I am an American who believes that Britain is still Great Britain, it is head of the Commonwealth, but beyond that British influence penetrates the whole world. I may not want a monarch in my country, but I am in full support of Britain's, because they stand above politics, and the late Queen was able to keep that influence cutting straight thru all the politics across the globe. The British people still are watched not only in the English speaking world but everywhere, yes the physical Empire may be gone, but still all across the world there are people who would never want to see Britain fail. May God bless you for putting out this wonderful series of documentaries, this a true gem, the Pathe archive is a treasure.

Thanks for this! I was a teenager during the sixties, and I remember seeing Paul Lynde on EVERYTHING. He was one of those guys like William Shallert. You were never surprised when he popped up on anything. It's so good of you to create these videos, and allow us to relive happy times. Paul Lynde often played basically the same character in a lot of sit-coms, and when he was on one, you knew what you were going to get: A witty, erudite, vaguely gay, performer who always looked like he was having the time of his life. I had no idea of the sadnesses in his life, and now that I know, his acting so happy as he did puts his skill on another level. Thanks again, and please keep 'em coming.

@ 46:00: Why are they playing 1920's jazz when it's the late '40's?
@MikeGreenwood51
@MikeGreenwood51 2 жыл бұрын
Because in 1948 as the news item said the rhythm enthusiasts were going to clubs to dance to their choosen genre of music. It was a news item. The reporters were not making the news but reporting news. So had they gone to the Be-bob venue they would likly have been reporting Bebob. I am not sure if you thought Jazz died on December 31st 1929. But for many it continued. Even in the Twenty-Twenties we have Jazz Clubs or Resturants.

What is frustrating about the Suffragette woman, who so brilliantly stepped in front of a race horse….(well done!) is that NOBODY gave a dang about the INNOCENT jockey who was undoubtedly injured, perhaps killed.This is a type of terrorist act, even though admittedly mild in outcome, which is grabbed upon and used by the suffragette movement and even applauded as brave. Doesn’t this look like so many of the disgusting stunts that the many, many “human rights” and “animal rights” groups do today? Never be swayed by the massive money sponging groups that claim to be loving, helpful, and humanitarian. Some believe the trade off is fair, a few innocent lives for the sake of a cause. The innocent’s would disagree. At least the suffragette idiot got to choose her own demise. The jockey’s family got to watch their loved one die or be terribly injured in front of their eyes.
@MikeGreenwood51

You could very easily have done a little research before inventing your statements of miserable fiction. Herbert Ebsworth Jones, often known as Bertie, (30 November 1880 - 18 July 1951) did not die immediatly after the race or as a direct result of fatal injuries incurred that day 1913 June 4th. He did incur some injuries but he as well as the same horse Anmer were up and running at Royal Ascot with in 2 weeks (From Wiki June 1st 2022). He apparantly commited suicide after his wife's death.Jones became deaf and suffered two strokes In 1951 (He was aged 70). He died by self administerd gas posoning suicide 38 years later after the 1913 Derby collision with suffragette Emily Davison.
@humblehombre9904
@humblehombre9904 2 жыл бұрын
@@MikeGreenwood51 And you yourself could have done the rudimentary amount of research, by simply READING MY STATEMENT! “Undoubtedly injured, PERHAPS killed”. You see, when one uses this type of statement, it is openly stated that the writer is quite unsure IF the person had died. I was actually pointing out the obvious fact, that people paid more attention to the fool who jumped in front of a race horse, who was running full ahead will an innocent passenger on it’s back. By way of your ridiculously inaccurate statement, you proved my point profoundly. You are more upset that I put down the woman and the response of her supporters, than about the mildly terroristic crime she committed. I am surprised you aren’t more upset about the hurt horse, or the damage done to the grass. As a side point, there are numerous football and hockey players who, because of head injuries received earlier in life, have become mentally injured, or committed suicide. Who is to say this did not happen here? The fact that he went deaf would definitely be suspect.
