I was a restaurant steward, wine steward, and finally a public room steward on the Orcades in 1963. What a fantastic experience was for a young man, like I was. I recognize the Captain and the barmen shaking the cocktails 'Doug'. March 2023

My husband is rather envious, he loves ocean liners and frequently says if we can go back in time we would be on the Transvaal castle, the orcades was a beautiful ship. It’s so sad they’re all gone.

Our family sailed on the Orcades London to Wellington via Suez early 1966. A fantastic experience sadly now gone forever. I was then a 12 year old boy - born at a good time.

I returned to England on the Orcades in 1963 from Australia, arriving during the winter of 63, I was 9 at the time.

People were so decent back then. I always remember my Dad wore a tie and a hat whenever he was out of the house and holidays were special times.
