People now in their 50's like me are very lucky to have been growing up in the 80's because they were epic times compared to now. The LC was THE BIKE to have at that special time. Still got mine.

Yes great times. Rode my mate's LC with it's Allspeeds far better than my old X7. Only on £30 a week at the time so unfortunately could not afford an LC. Would love one now but would cost a fortune and two strokes are a no go in this crazy world.

People like me are the luckiest because I raced many of those guys in 1981-82. Charlie Corner was my hero, but he gave up racing because of his job, I raced his brother George many times. Saw Niall Mackenzie at RAF Ouston, raced Andy Muggleton and Kurt Langan and saw Alan Carter disappear in the distance once lol

@@timcolder2789 I raced X7s in 1981, only the top guys on LCs beat me. The X7 was better on the brakes and faster through the corners, same on top speed but slower through the gears. Thngs changed in 1982 when tuners figured out how to make the best of water cooling.

Great memories of my early visits to Donington Park around 1981 when I was about 15, and watching World of Sport on a Saturday afternoon. The most exciting racing I ever saw, and remember being in the paddock at Donington in 1984 when all the YPVS versions were all lined up with the competion leader's bike being in Wrangler colours. The making of future stars such as Niall Mckenzie, the late Kenny Irons and even Damon Hill. Also remember Ray Swann, Graham Cannell and Steve Chambers.

The amount of fork dive is pretty drastic. Reminds me of the bad old days when bikes had minds of their own when it came to handling. Thin fort tubes, marginal brakes and flexible frames. But those of us that survived had a ball on those bikes because we didn't know any better. Great race. I'm 70 and still give the youngsters a run in the tight twistys.

Great to see some of my heroes from my youth on track racing again...I was not an LC fan back in the day,but now can see the appeal. Hope more older racers come out of retirement & more of these races are broadcast. Excellent, thank you 👍👍🏁

Wow. That brings back memories. We used to support an LC rider back in the day. Knock hill has certainly changed from the days when the Solo Motorcycles van was parked in the paddock. Great stuff.

Are they still doing the Pro-Am? Im guessing not as I cant find any info about it. Im proud to say I survived owning and racing a 350 'elsie'. Raced in the Bike magazine Moped mayhem series too :)

Brilliant - have a 250LC to restore (350 got nicked back in 85) but why don't they have a few white and blue ones lol
This is awesome!!!! Way better than waiting for my VHS tape ordered by toll call, paid by international bank transfer during my lunch break , then waiting forever till it arrived. I can still smell my LC watching this. Was it Duke videos??? Edit We didn't see any of your domestic racing in NZ..

Gotta feel pity for today's British learner riders. They're restricted to gutless and slow 4 stroke 125cc bikes, so the vast majority will never experience the excitement of riding a more powerful 2 stroke 125cc bike, let alone a 175cc, 200cc, 250cc, 305cc, 350cc, 400cc, 500cc. 550cc, or 750cc 2 stroke motorcycle on the road. I was lucky, as part of generation X, to have lived in a biking world where 2 stroke once ruled the roads!! I still ride a 2 stroke 250cc twin bike as everyday transport. It's the only one still in everyday use in my home town. Once there were thousands.....
@timcolder27893 жыл бұрын
You hardly ever see any learner riders these days. Back in the '80's we had a group of about 10 to 15 in our gang all riding two strokes , LC's, KR1, RD400, RD350B, RD250 and X7's. My neighbour did not like my microns but then he was a copper! Lived close to the Micron factory and they actually made a new pipe for me when one of the welds split. Before we got rid of our L plates it was RD125, KH125 and GP100's. Always remember it rained like hell on my part two test and tearing up my L plates in the test centre office. Great days, learners these days don't know what they missed. No wonder there are so few younger riders now.

They need to get Terry Rymer, Stuart Melen, Dean Askin, Ray Stringer,and Kevin Mawdsley to get on the grid to even it up a bit?👍 But to be honest, Nial McKenzie is a fucking good rider👍 But the Wee Burnie picture I am not so sure about😮
