I feel like this woman NEVER had the chance on CHOOSING her life. She was pushed and forced to do so many uncomfortable projects from the adults taking accountability for her who clearly failed miserably. Look what they did to her. I love her so much I swear I feel like crying whenever I think about what she has and STILL is going through !

Jazmine Newark I agree! I think the pregnancy saved her in a lot of ways... and I wonder if she did it intentionally (yes I know Jamie was 17 at the time) because being 17 and pregnant isn’t acceptable marketing especially in the early 2000s. .... Jamie’s baby is her miracle child.

This is my most favourite song it's just so personal and heartfelt for me it's just really relatable. Especially when you want to be your own person. But everyone in your life just wants to keep controlling your life and turn you into their personal little robotic slave. That's the tragic message behind such a incredible song still love music 🎵 that actually speaks to you without saying anything.🎼🎵🎶💟👍🏻

She is not crazy she was well aware of the evils around her and rebelled against the industry, her team and her family. It cost her alot. She literally chose her kids over her freedom. Research the free britney movement get educated on the situation first. Try showing some compassion instead of spreading your negative energy around. Britney needs positive thoughts and love from us all right now. Love you brit I pray for your freedom everyday🙏🏻💜 #freebritney

It's so weird to me... as a 10 year old all I thought when singing to this song on repeat was how catchy it was and how bomb she looked in the video and dance routines. But today reading the lyrics it's so obvious some of her songs were like a cry for help and her way of expressing her struggles and frustration in her life. It's so sad... I wish I knew the context when I was a kid :(

This song was written by Max Martin who is responsible for writing or co-writing 23 Billboard Hot 100 number-one songs. He has worked with Britney from the beginning, as well as The Backstreet Boys, N'Sync, Maroon 5, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry and many more. Even though this song seems to fit perfectly with what has happened and continues to happen to Britney, in truth it could have been written about any or all of the young singers/performers that he has worked with over the years. I'm sure he has seen more than his fair share of young people being used for the almighty dollar. It's not about protection or overprotection out of love or consideration for the artist. Sadly, it's all about keeping that money rolling in

She was really groundbreaking. She changed the pop genre with her debut song and album. Many critics have countless stated that no artist will ever reach her popularity and iconic level. Blast Crazy in Love, Baby Boy, Single Ladies, Drunk In Love, Irreplaceable, etc. in any club and tell me people won't start dancing and getting down. C'mon now And objectively, she's one of the best damn performers we've had since Michael, Prince, Madonna, AND Britney. Yeah, I said it. Britney WAS great, but not anymore, and damn sure not like Beyoncé. Until I see Britney do what Beyoncé did at coachella, then we can discuss Bey supposedly "not" being able to touch Britney's abilities. Btw, Britney hasn't written A LOT of her songs, way less than Beyoncé has (she's wrote more than people think). Also, a bunch of great performers (like Britney 🙄) don't write their songs, so what? Are we gonna start blaming actors for not writing their actual lines now?

The media were one of the people who ruined her life. Edit; didn't I tell y'all. Read my comment. @@aquarispoot from I’ve heard (tho I don’t know if it was a 100% but I’m pretty sure most of it is true or at least based of the truth) she always wanted to do musical theatre. So she started performing and the works to get experience and make a name for herself to get into music theatre easier. She only signed her record label to get even further and wanted to be an Amy Whitehouse type of artist but settled to go for pop as it allowed her to dance as well. The label pushed her to do a baby voice to distinguish her from Christina Aguilera because they had similar vocal tones (look at her younger performances like the ones form the Mickey Mouse club she had a deeper voice then that wouldn’t result in her baby voice naturally) but when she started to take off a be hit her management and family pushed her into the conservative ship. The people in charge of her claim she has dementia but really she doesn’t have dementia (it is a fact that young people can get it I thinks it a 5% chance but I’m not sure so take this statistic with a grain of salt) because the choreography she does on her live performance as well as the fact she is constantly working couldn’t be achieved if she had it.

Agreed. when i think about Chris Crocker's video "leave Britney alone" i feel ashamed of my younger self for laughing it off. He was so right. I went into a rabbit hole doing research on Britney too, I realize she had it really rough and was exploited during a time she needed help.

Just my thoughts. It sounds almost sweet, over bearing. Over isolated would be more appropriate. But my god this song must have been hurtful for her.

Overprotected was Michael Jackson 's favourite song of Britney Spears, he admitted. He really admired her unique and great work, her charisma, beauty, and authentic personality. The King and Princess of Pop, but she is this generation's Queen of Pop.

"Overprotected" I need time, love, joy I need space, love I need... me (Action!) Say hello to the girl that I am You're gonna have to see through my perspective I need to make mistakes just to learn who I am And I don't wanna be so damn protected There must be another way 'Cause I believe in taking chances But who am I to say what a girl is to do? God, I need some answers What am I to do with my life? (You will find it out, don't worry) How am I supposed to know what's right? (You just gotta do it your way) I can't help the way I feel But my life has been so overprotected I'll tell 'em what I like, what I want, and what I don't But every time I do, I stand corrected Things that I've been told I can't believe what I hear about the world I realize I'm overprotected There must be another way 'Cause I believe in taking chances But who am I to say what a girl is to do? God, I need some answers What am I to do with my life? (You will find it out, don't worry) How am I supposed to know what's right? (You just gotta do it your way) I can't help the way I feel (Help the way I feel) But my life has been so overprotected I need time, love I need space (This is it, this is it) I don't need nobody telling me just what I wanna What I, what, what, what I'm gonna (I need) do about my destiny I say no, no, nobody's telling me just what I wanna do, do I'm so fed up with people telling me to be someone else but me (Action!) What am I to do with my life? (You will find it out, don't worry) How am I supposed to know what's right? (You just gotta do it your way) I can't help the way I feel But my life has been so overprotected I don't need nobody telling me just what I wanna What I, what, what, what I'm gonna do about my destiny I say no, no, nobody's telling me just what I wanna do, do I'm so fed up with people telling me to be someone else but me What am I to do with my life? Pretty prophetic...if you ask me. I love Britney. She was A HUGE part of my adolescents, and truthfully, her music...like this song made me aware of the power I had in being a woman. I think she is and always has been so much wiser than what the world gave her credit for. She had ZERO childhood, she never got to experience what it meant to be a normal teenager and she was hyper-sexualized from a very young age. None of us know what it's been like for her.

i feel so bad for her, i will honestly never forgive people for how they treated britney not only in 2007 but before and after 2007 also. britney was clearly asking for help and giving hints with her third album “britney”, and not only with this album. it was so inhumane how people treated her, paparazzi and people need to calm down. ik that she made a awesome comeback from 2007, but she still suffers with mental disorders like anxiety from that. and then people were making fun of her for shaving her head well y’all drove her to that! and paparazzi were asking for that “attack”. love you britney and hope your doing so much better!
