The “biscuits” in banana pudding are vanilla wafers. A light crispy mildly sweet and vanilla cookie.

bread pudding is literally an english recipe from 1000 years ago, im surprised they never heard of it before. You can tell its british because americans dont call deserts "pudding", only egg custards are known as "pudding".

I make beignets for my family sometimes. Super easy recipe. Similar to Florida Seminole fried bread. Except with powdered sugar. My mother is from NOLA, born and raised.

You can also order a mix on Cafe Du monde's site along with the sugar and other stuff. Family who mobed out of state woukd order from there.

Tableside preperation is for dishes that need to be eaten right away. Banana fosters starts melting right away so it has to be served immediately. Guacamole is also often made tableside as well since it will oxidize very shortly after being made.

Bread pudding is a custard. The bread, typically day old and crusty, is soaked in milk in the refrigerator for a bit. Then eggs and a splash of vanilla is added and mixed in with the now soft milk soaked bread, and baked in the oven. Many variations can be made. Add raisins or other fruit (yes, even banana) , shave chocolate into it, whatever you like.

In New York at the Italian festivals they have zeppolis , which are very similar to beignets ---deep fried dough balls sprinkled with powdered sugar. They are at their best when still warm from the fryer .

I remember watching those JOLLY videos too! Oh, those Beignets at Cafe du Monde are so yummy, best fried little snack you would enjoy, with their coffee (Chicory flavored) or hot chocolate, they are so good, and pronounced as bé-nyè. When you dine at Brennan's for Bananas Foster, it is made tableside for everyone who orders it, along with the background story of how Bananas Foster came to be. If you ever become adventurous to be out of your comfort zone, to take a trip to New Orleans and dine at Brennan's, be sure to make reservations before you go, that is what we had to do and we enjoyed our meal and Bananas Foster. I get that you’re not a huge fan of bananas but this is REALLY good. Easily in my top 5 desserts. If you try it, I’d recommend cutting the bananas into small pieces and mix them a little at a time with the vanilla ice cream. Literally chef’s kiss!

Bananas are one of those foods that taste so different depending what you do with it. Here's an experiment you can do at home. Buy 2 bananas. Take one and peel it then wrap it in aluminum foil and put it in the freezer overnight. Then take it out and take one bite of the regular banana and then one bite of the frozen one. You will easily see what I mean. Film it so we can watch!

Classic southern desserts. Ambrosia salad, bread pudding (personal fave) with rum or bourbon sauce, key lime pie, peach pie, pecan pie, banana pudding, coconut cream pie, hummingbird cake. Which I hear is Caribbean but quickly adopted in the South. Wrangling those hummingbirds is hell too. Beignets are more a fry bread vibe. A tiny bit like donuts. Try Bananas Foster. Maybe not this expensive. I would pass on it but I have had it before.

I'm with you on this one, man. I never liked bananas since I was a kid. I tried one a few years ago to see if my tastes have changed, and I found out I'm allergic to them.

For the bread pudding, they did the video for Dizzy's which I think you watched. It was the one with the gumbo and jambalya and the shrimp where Luke got depressed after trying it, lol. Don't feel bad. I have a similar love/hate relationship with bananas. You can't pay me to just peel one and start eating. It's got to be in a smoothie with other flavors or in a banana bread, lol.

Buc-ees is the best. It's really shocking to people how good it is! It's a legit place for food....most of it will knock a few days off the end of your life...but you won't mind. It's funny to think though that our gas stations are tourist attraction here in Texas.

I have to say i dont like bananas regularly but you have to try banana pudding its just the best. But the Americanized version just not pudding thats banana flavored.
