I saw people complaining about the World Cup in North America. They were saying that only small countries should host it, so there is not much traveling. On a side note, the World Cup trophy really is one of the ugliest trophies.
@psymar7 ай бұрын
Part of the problem is no small countries even bid for it anymore because they don't have enough huge stadiums. Which is why Saudi Arabia won the 2030 bid: nobody else even bid, and they have enough oil money (and disregard for human rights) to build enough stadiums in time.

Its funny how Fifa knew picking Metlife (NJ/NY) was gonna get backlash so they gave AT&T (Dallas) the 2nd most hosted games in world cup history as well a semi finals match lmfaoo.

The regional organization is based on time zones. All those regions are in the same time zone. Los Angeles and Vancouver are both in Pacific time (GMT -8), Mexico City and Dallas are both in Central Time (GMT -6), and Toronto and Miami are both in Eastern Time (GMT -5). It's about 2 1/2 to 3 hours flight time between those respective cities.

I would love to see England vs. Scotland. That would be epic. I think that Scotland has a good chance to qualify now that the field has expanded.

14:00 the US has the quality to make a semifinals run, most all of our players play in top European leagues which hasn’t been the case in previous WCs. Matter of fact the only 2 teams in the Americas (both north and south) that has more players in the top 10 leagues in the world are Brazil and Argentina. The only issue is the USMNT manager (Gregg Berhalter) is arguably one of the worst international managers in the world and is holding the team back in a big way. It’s almost similar to Englands problem with Southgate. He consistently picks the worst lineups and doesn’t always bring the best players when he should. In 2022 the US brought 7 MLS players to Qatar and left out several guys in European leagues that were more talented. He’s also a god awful tactician and can’t motivate a team to save his life. If he’s still the manager for the USMNT going into 2026 they’ll be embarrassed on home soil, might not even make it past the R32. But if they get rid of him and hire even a halfway decent manager.. look out

Miami is so F-ing hot in the summer, same with Dallas, Atlanta etc, you British will genuinely hate it there, you'll literally melt in the summer. The NJ, Boston, Phili probably makes the most sense. Those cities look close, but NJ to Boston is still like a 6-7 hour long drive or train ride. It's not close what so ever. Seattle and Vancouver is a good option too, plus it's way more beautiful of an area then anywhere on the east coast with the Rockey mountains in the background.

The US will play their first 3 matches in the group stage all on the west coast. First in LA, 2nd in Seattle, 3rd back in LA. They aren't going to want to change time zones because they will be screwed up. Sam with other countries. I can't see Canada playing on both coasts. That will be a big disadvantage for them.

I live about halfway between Seattle and Vancouver, and I got a student visa and went to college in Canada. The border isn't too bad normally, but it will probably be extra busy during the WC. I know the US is playing all their groupstage at home and all the knockouts are in the US... so I will avoid crossing for matches in Vancouver simply because it will be busy. As far as whether we'll allow people in... well, it depends who we elect this year. You think I'm joking, but as ridiculous as it sounds there are people still ready to elect Trump again. 🤦 As for the travel, the US is playing on the West Coast for their group stage. It was announced already. There was a part of me that was like, let's show why we don't have a lot of traveling support in MLS... Your group stage would be NY, Seattle, Houston. That'd be so bonkers. The US are hosting at the perfect time as we've got our most talented generation ever. Last time the US hosted, we were barely fielding professionals... the issue is we've got a coach that umm...well, he's got his limitations.

"on home soil with the crowd behind em" i suspect a lot of fans of soccer in the US will probably be children of immigrants more likely to support their home country. this will truly be a test of how much soccer has grown in popularity here over the past 20 or so years. we already arent that into international competitions so you may be surprised at how dead some of the games might end up being. i would expect maybe something similar to the world baseball classic games
@loganleroy86227 ай бұрын
When it comes to international competitions, there are two that Americans care about. The Olympics and the World Cup. American fans will attend the games just fine. The only problem would be if they draw a big team from South America, but the ticket prices will be high and that will price out a lot of them.

If you see it as a combined Kansas City/Saint Louis pick it's a bit less weird, about 5M people between the two "metro areas". Also, are you maybe looking at the population of Kansas City, Kansas? The stadium is in Kansas City, Missouri, which even just within city limits has 500,000 people, hardly a "small town". Although even Kansas City, Kansas has 150k, which I'd hardly consider "small" either.

Over the last 5 or 6 years: MLB: Went from 8 teams to 10 teams in the playoffs NBA: Went from 16 teams to 20 teams in the playoffs (“play-in”) NFL: Went from 12 teams to 14 teams in the playoffs College Football: Went from 4 team to a 12 team playoff (starting 2024-2025). I believe sports like NASCAR and College Basketball has too but they made that transition years prior and those two made more sense. Sort of diminishes any regular season (In World Cup terms, the group stage of excitement to me personally).
