In answer to your question about where in his career this song came, you answered it at the beginning of your video! This is episode 2 of the Singer show. "SOS" was episode 1, so they were 1 week apart. But by then, Dimash's popularity had exploded all over China.

The 2017 ‘Singer’ contest was the launchpad for Dimash to be known world-wide, although he did win the Slavic Bazaar (a big international competition) in 2015. In this series of ‘Singer’, the theme was song covers, so Dimash was only allowed to perform one of his own compositions (‘Unforgettable Day’). The rounds were weekly - this was the second week, and the organisers had originally thought that Dimash wouldn’t last much longer in the contest, as he was completely unknown in China. (However, the Chinese public took him to their hearts and he made it through all 14 gruelling weeks to the final!)

Please do Sinful Passion but at the end keep a note on the man in the first row with the white shirt on that is Igor Krutoy he is a famous Russian composer who had heard of Dimash and went to see him. Igor came out of retirement BTW he is a BILLIONAIRE. Any he came out of retirement to work and write songs for Dimash. If you have already reacted to Stranger he was at the piano. 👉“Opera #2” was the 2. song in the competition. Despite Dimash's planned brief presence at the "Singer", his name was intended to be symbolic and understandable to the public. Dimash was given the Chinese name Dimashi and the 3 syllables were assigned in Chinese characters: ⭐Di - achievement ⭐Ma - precious stone ⭐Shi - dream, wish. For a regular song that you would recognise I highly recommend Dimash's version of Lionel Richie's song 'Hallo' which he sang the following year at The Singer competitition when he was invited back to sing as a guest. I feel sure that it will blow your mind. Great reaction guys and thank you!

Dimash has done several covers of popular 'western' songs. [ Checkout his version of Lionel Richie's "Hello" - for one. ] The original Opera #2 is a Vitas song first performed around 2000. Vitas [Vitaly Vladasovich Grachev], is a Latvian Born - Russian singer , song-writer and actor {now 43 years old} who is known for his unique falsetto and his eclectic musical style, which incorporates elements of operatic pop, techno, dance, classical, jazz, and folk. [ *Wiki ] He was also known as somewhat of a child prodigy musically. Vitas is also very popular in China - where he has performed many times. So, you know; Dimash is by no means the first artist to explore across many genres of music. Vitas took his version up 2 levels whilst Dimash went 2 levels higher. Vitas does not have the operatic vocal training of Dimash, nor the reach strength and volume in the higher range. There was a formal legal complaint from Vitas / his management over this 2017 performance by Dimash of Opera #2. Many of Dimash's fans claimed it was pure professional jealousy as Dimash had undoubtedly done better than the original, however, it was apparently to do with the Singer Show management failing to obtain the correct {Copyright} 'permissions' from Vitas. Vitas eventually gave a one off copyright consent for this to be aired, but has said - allegedly - he would not provide ANY further permission for Dimash to sing ANY of his songs anywhere EVER again! (So make of that what you will ! Does sound like a massive 'dummy-spit' to me! The SMART thing would have been for Vitas to offer to perform a few shows together with Dimash - however...) # Dimash, for his part, who has said he has always admired and respected Vitas, has, as stipulated, not performed this song since, however, he has no control over public on-line access to this particular {and wildly popular!} clip, aired by the Singer show. And we're all happy about that! The staccato piece, which some have also said is 'Just Dimash 'showing off,' you will see him do in a number of other songs. Apparently he introduces this deliberately to prove that he is indeed singing Live, and not to a backing / pre-recorded track - as some have tried to suggest. { Dimash always sings live and perfectly pitched, it's just that some people - who perhaps cannot? - want to believe otherwise.} 😆👍

But his performance of 'SOS D'un Terrien En Detresse' electrified the audience, his fellow competitors and the viewers who numbered in the billions (this program was one of the most-watched in China and outside). This was my 1st Dimash experience about 9 mths ago. I love it. Suggestion: The guy in the little box? We can hear his comments but we can't see his reaction. Not to mention that it is a bit distracting having the little box on top the video. That box needs to be dropped below the video and enlarged. Physical reaction is just as important as verbal. The sound from your mic isn't really crisp. It has kind of an echo type effect (best way I can describe it, sorry) Looking forward to more Dimash.

As usual all I can say is you guys the Brits should listen to more foreign music, many artist across the ages would surprise you as to their skills and emotional perfomances across all times and genres. The first one singing in the Frech language which comes to mind is Jaques Brel, a Flemish National like myself and yes I know you don't know what country that is. nevertheless it is very close to Britain or England. Actually, I know a fair bit about Flanders. I spent many childhood holidays in Ostende (or Oostende in Flemish/Dutch). It's a family tradition to go to Oostende.My Dad has been going there since his childhood. We used to go there for the pancakes, but sadly, most of the places we used to go to have closed down. I used to like playing in the video game arcade too. I'm also familiar with all the places along the coast. I used to ride little toy cars in Blankenberge as a small child. smiles, yes you must be a unique amongst the brits to cross the channel for waffles (most would end up eating them in Brugge, the Venice of the North ), and yes from Duinkerken , Blankenbergen, Oostende, Knokke-Heist to Zeebrugge, the Belgian coast is famous as it is the longest shore line in Europe (75 km's) all made of the good old yellow sand allowing you to sail the beach front on wheels while being wind powered, the grey schrimps and casino are what most people remember as tourisat but yes for kids it would be the pedalos ...

This song belongs to the Ukrainian- Russian vocal clown Vitas. However, they forgot to ask Vitas. The people who hold the rights sued Chinese TV... unfortunately too late.
