Some context on pulling the goalie: It's not a flex by the winning team, it's desperation by the losing team. Even though you are far more likely to be scored on than to score when you pull the goalie, it doesn't matter. Lets say in the last 2 minutes (which is when goalies are typically pulled), there's a 5% chance that you score, and a 5% chance that you get scored on. If you're down 1 goal, you're 95% to lose, since if you don't score you lose. If pulling the goalie makes it 10% that you score and 50% that you get scored on, you're still only 90% chance to lose, since losing by 1 and losing by 2 is the same from the perspective of the standings, but forcing overtime gets you a point.

that 1st incident just happened & there was a ton of back & forth here in Canada about "the code" & the changing times. I'm 45 & can tell you until recently I'd assume that if a player did something like that he was going to pay for it 🤷♂ However I'm not a young man like the players are today & they have to decide amongst themselves what is their code. I'll never like over the top hot dogging. You should check out brawl between the Habs & Flyers in 1987. The Habs had taken to waiting for opponents to leave ice after warming up & then scoring on the oppositions now empty net. Philly did NOT like that & let it be known. Warmup happens. Now ended, the Flyers see that all the Habs players have left the ice , so they feel comfortable to leave, only to see 2 Habs players sneaking back on ice to go put puck in net . What happens next is INSANITY by todays standards. Back then it made sense according to that eras code. Notice that because this is all pre game there are no refs kzbin.info/www/bejne/rGe8iWise7qHm7M
