Queso is a cheese dip that sometimes has sausage or chorizo in it. You typically find it at Mexican restaurants in the US and dip tortilla chips in it or pour it over a burrito. Very good stuff.

Prairie Fire BBQ closed permanently back in February. Here's a statement from the owner: "Since announcing our upcoming closure after the Super Bowl, we’ve had customers say they cannot believe it. The last few years have been exceptionally difficult for hospitality. Our costs have increased so much so that without a packed house every night, it is simply not sustainable. We opened the restaurant 2 months before lockdown in a new development that is still incomplete. Throw in Brexit, a war, massive inflation, crushing VAT, business rates and increasing wages and it’s surprising we survived this long. The worst part, even with all of these obstacles, if VAT was only 10% for restaurants, we would have survived. That is pretty crazy."

it makes no sense to open a restaurant in the UK if youre an american.
@tinahairston63834 ай бұрын
@@nullakjg767 why do you think that?
@mylesc994 ай бұрын
@@tinahairston6383 I did research on their Value Added Tax. It's an insane rate of 20%. I thought sales tax at 8.5% was high where I live. I'll pick a sales tax any day in the US compared to their VAT. The owner of Franklin's BBQ in Austin, TX was asked by the H Family who are from the UK, why doesn't he open a Franklin's BBQ in the UK? He told them that he couldn't get the same quality of beef in the UK that you can get in the US. He would have to pay more to get the US beef imported into the UK, and then he would have to pay the 20% VAT on top of that. If you want to open a proper BBQ in the UK, it's not feasible. That's the lesson that the owner of Prairie Fire BBQ found out for himself.
@kevinprzy45394 ай бұрын
@@mylesc99 yeah VAT in Europe is extremely high compared to the states, my states sales tax is 6%
@tinahairston63834 ай бұрын
@@mylesc99 That's understandable when you import but that wasn't why I asked the question of nullakjg767. The Spitfire BBQ is a place in Bristol that the H family went to. I don't know if the beef they use is US standard but the cooks there actually come to TX to learn. So having a proper BBQ place in the UK can be done. Outside of that, even when conditions are right a new restaurant can fail in the first year. Everything started stacking against Prairie Fire 2 months after they opened which is sad no matter where it was located.

American sports are different. The game is the game - many players in each professional sport are our to win, but never want to see anyone injured. Most have played together in the pros, college, and sometimes high school and now have to play against each other. If you want to see unity, watch 'The Scariest Day in NFL History', which happened only a few years ago and and everyone united for one person. The Super Bowl is about a party with a lot of food! There are 32 NFL teams - we all have our favorite - but if our team isn't playing, most of us don't care who wins! We are true Americans - it's all about the food!

This place is in the UK so you can totally try it for yourself before you come to the US. Oh you wouldn't be getting this at any stadium as this isn't remotely typical stadium food. THIS is tailgating food that you'd enjoy in the parking lot before or during the game or at home for your own Super Bowl party. You can totally make the 7 layer dip. It's REALLY yummy! Queso is a cheese dip/sauce. US beef as he said is different than UK beef so that fatty content makes the difference.

Pizza, chicken wings(we have like 100 different flavors), ribs, burgers, hot dogs, I'd say are probably the most popular big food items around Minnesota for super bowls. Nachos or chips and salsa, chips and dip, veggies and dip, crackers and cheese/meat, mini bbq meatballs or Lil smokies(plain or bbq), would be the main side dishes here. I'm talking house parties, even bar scene is pretty similar here.

The Brits should try what Americans do. We just put stuff together and see how it tastes. If it's a keeper, great; if not, no big deal. Don't get stuck in the sausage roll rut. We Americans aren't doing anything serious, just looking for delicious. For Independence Day fun (today, July 4) I made sweet rolls (pre-baked at the grocery store, it's too damn hot to bake except early, early in the morning - 110F/43C today) brushed with soft cinnamon added butter and 60% cooked bacon slices inside the rolls then baked briefly to meld everything with cream cheese icing for the top. Delicious!

A lot of these people try “American” food are never what we really eat or done way wrong. Or they are very regional foods to maybe the South, Midwest, North East like Maine and not common in the rest of the US. But everything these guys ate we do eat here in California, with the exception of Pickle juice, never had it, never been offered it. The Queso was very hot so that is why it was runny at first, you will notice when it cooled down it was thicker and stuck to food and chips. At my parties Queso and Guacamole dip is a must with tortilla chips and Onion dip with potato chips. You saw the bowl of small pretzels on the table the guys never ate, we always have a bowl of pretzels while watching games. We grill hot dogs or hamburgers before or after the game, no wants to be grilling during the game and miss something. The US has a huge variety of food, I am sure you think people in Ireland eat weird foods. London to Dublin is 288 miles California to New York is 2,800 So we are way more vast in the kind of foods we eat. Unless McDonalds, that is the same everywhere.

when talking about the fat it isn't a different fat, when people make briskets they trim the fat to an amount that isn't overwhelming to get a good cook on the brisket here in the US. If you leave too much fat on there it won't cook correctly when smoking it.....and it takes longer to cook as well, grillmasters kind of eyeball the amount of fat to trim off depending on the meat they get....to a ratio where it is almost non existent like a part of the meat it holds a lot of flavor and is really juicy and tender when done correctly, but you can definetly tell when you are eating the fat by the amount of flavor that bursts in your mouth. As American's the super bowl is basically a holiday, most people will get together at someones home and many people will come like it's a birthday party(we don't bring gifts, just some beer or something and our team's jersey no matter if our team is playing or not), it's a lot of bragging rights if your team is playing in the game though....a lot of friendly banter between teams and rivals all the time too, but generally it's all fun and a huge event in most places basically like a holiday I'd say.

@ 11:53 Different type of fat? It's not that. It's the temp that the meat is cooked at and for how long. If the fat is all gooey and colorless that means it was cooked at too high of a temp and too quick. When you cook fatty meat at a lower temperature and for a longer time it allows the fat to "render down" which removes all of that extra water that makes it all chewy. [Edit} You can also use a pan to catch all that rendered down goodness to make your own cooking grease.
