If you read the comments, people talked about this before. They’re not a real group. It’s a bunch of musicians and artists collaborating to make a virtual group. It was created by Damon Albarn from Blur (he sings on most tracks) and cartoonist Jamie Hewlett. They work with hip-hop producer (one of my favs) Dan the Automator as well as Danger Mouse. They have features such as Del the Funkee Homosapian (Hieroglyphics, Deltron 3030), De La Soul (who were the “real guys” you saw in the last video), Shaun Ryder, Bobby Womack, Tina Weymouth (Talking Heads), Mos Def, Vince Staples, Roots Manuva, MF DOOM, Miho Hatori (Cibbo Matto), Lou Reed (Velvet Underground) and a ton of other musicians.

The animated characters are the core band of Gorillaz and the rappers are guests. The reality is that the only true core member of the band is Damon Albarn (the singer/songwriter). The graphic artist who created the characters is also considered a core member of the band. An entire world has been created around each character of Gorillaz over the years, so they are in essence alive. Each album is comprised of collaborations from several well known artists of the day. Because of those collaborations along with characters that never age, except Noodle (the girl), the band can conceivably stay fresh indefinitely.

"Clint Eastwood" is an actor/write/director. But it's also a really famous strain of Weed! Lol "Sunshine in a bag!" 😁 My son was around 10 when this song came out. He used to walk around singing it constantly. The 1st time I actually listened to the lyrics, I went "WOOOAH!" and asked him what he thought it was about. He said "Like when you separate eggs Mom. You save the Yolks in a ziplock & you always say it's little Suns in a bag" 😮 I was like "Uhh...Ok then!" 😂😂 I still tease him about it

Damon Albarn, half of the creative force, alongside Jamie Hewlett. Albarn is the musician, Hewlett is the artist. Albarn first got famous as the lead singer of Brit Pop band "Blur". Hewlett is a cartoon artist who created "Tank Girl". Both are worth looking into further, Tank Girl is a great character. Blur are an amazing band. They would always have "featured" musicians in Gorillaz song, the "men" popping up in the Feel Good Inc video were "De La Soul".

The name is because the harmonica notes in the song were inspired by Ennio Morricone music for Sergio Leone's westerns (starring Clint Eastwood). You would probably enjoy the film but there's a concert performance of the music by the Danish Symphony Orchestra on You Tube that is also fun. The band gorrillaz are Damon Albarn (Audio) and Jamie Hewitt (Visuals). Jamie /hewitt's previous work include writing and drawing the comic "Tank Girl" while Damon's pedigree is the Brit Pop band Blur.

I love the story behind this band. In the 90s in the UK, you had two bands, battling it out for who was the best. On one side you had oasis, and on the other you had blur.. now the vast majority of the public loved both bands, but the media liked oasis more, and kept trying to create a division between the two. The lead singer of blur talented guy whenever he did interviews with the media the only said he was popular because he was a good looking guy a pretty boy. He soon got sick and tired of this, because no matter how much talent he had. He was constantly catching flack from the media not from the public the public really enjoyed both bands. So after the band blur broke up a few years later, he created the band the Gorillaz, and hid the identity of himself and the other members. Everyone went crazy and loved the music even the critics were positively supporting the band. After a while, it came out that the lead singer of the Gorillaz was the one and only lead singer from blur. What a big middle finger and fuck you to the media love it.

The main band behind the cartoon does the writing for the instruments and the vocals the animated singer (named 2D) sing and typically have A LOT of featured artist come in and and their own parts to finish up the song. Usually in the official music videos, the flashed of real people are the guest artist. In this video, the main band is not featured up front and let the other guest artist come out and have their own time in the light. Oh and as for the other member, the drummer is Russel, the bass player is Murdoc and the guitar player is Noodle. One of my favorite songs, or you could say it's just a story, is Fire Coming Out of the Monkey Head. It's a story the symbolizes our own humanity in a way but it's narrated by the highly acclaimed actor Dennis Hopper over music.

Clint Eastwood is primarily known as an actor, although he has done alot of directing in the latter part of his very long career. He did a series of westerns that were Italian productions... maybe you've heard the term "spaghetti westerns"? The harmonica part in this song (more prevalent in the original video) is reminiscent of an element in the soundtrack from "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly". When you hear that harmonica, it usually means Clint is about to kill a bad guy... 😳😱

The gorillas were just inducted into the Guinness book of world records as the most successful virtual band. Murdock is the lead guitarist and he kinda runs the group. 2D is the singer. He belongs to Murdock after Murdock took his eyes out. Noodle is the Girl in the group and is a robot. Russell is the drummer and he is the soul (ghost) of a drummer who died years before. They wanted to get the art forth, not their image. I've been to one concert and lately, they just sing in person for simplification and because they already made their point, with the carachters on display but in the 2000's they were pretty adamant on this point I remember. The title confused me for the longest time... They don't say anything about Clint in the whole song. I finally looked it up in an interview... Clint was an actor before he was a director. He was in a movie called The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly. When creating this song they thought the general beat was similar to the theme song of that movie so they named the song after the main actor in the movie.

Damon Albarn (the voice of D-2 and former front man of Brit-pop band Blur) is the sole constant musical presence in the virtual band (meaning yes always presented as animated) Gorillaz. The only other constant is Jamie Hewlett who is the animator and not involved musically. Damon can play several instruments and composes as well as song writes. When they tour they get other musicians to do things like drums, bass, keyboards, etc. and a majority of their songs also include a featured artist. In videos and on tour any features will be the non animated people while Damon and the rest of the musicians playing his songs stay hidden and Jamie's animation is shown on the big screen.
