The Dolly musical has not come out, but there are two TV movies about Dolly's life growing up "Dolly Parton's Coat of Many Colors"(2015) which is about the story of the song and "Dolly Parton's Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love (2016). They both have the same cast of people and Dolly is in the second one playing another character that the little Dolly like, but not her Dolly's mother.

On the Phil Donohue Show back in the 70s...he asked Dolly how did they bathe in their little 1 room (or 2, I forget ) shack in the winter time without running water and 12 brothers and sisters. Without a thought she said, "Well we just washed as far down as possible and then we washed up as far as possible. And then we run the boys outside and washd possible."

Aunt Dolly is not only a national treasure to America, she is also an international treasure we need to protect. Dolly Parton came from a loving family, but was very very poor growing up. She has always stayed humble and true to here roots in country music. What would you do if you ever got to meet and chat with the legendary Aunt Dolly or Aunty Reba? Now that would be one hell of a reaction video to watch. Love ya Britreacts from Tairawhiti/Gisborne here in the beautiful Aotearoa/New Zealand 🇳🇿 ❤️

I've never seen this before, but what a treat! And I love Dolly so much ... she just makes me smile. I don't know if you've ever seen Steel Magnolias (you should, if you haven't), but I played Dolly's part when we did it at our community theater. Now ... I very much DON'T look like Dolly and it took a lot to win the audience over to my interpretation if they showed up expecting a Dolly-like character. LOL

A few years back her hometown caught fire. A few died and the area was destroyed. Homes lost. Dolly came and gave every one a place to stay as well as money till they got on their feet again. She gave monthly checks. My daughter went to help out and she gave her years passes to dollywood for her and my grandchildren. Dolly is the kindest, sweetest ever. We Tennesseans love her to pieces. She also gives each child born in tennessee a book every month until they are 5 from her imagination library. Shes really amazing. So kind , humble, funny, so so funny. She never had children but lost one and was heartbroken. She is definately the heart of Tennessee. We adore her

The lyrics is Dollys own words to Porter Wagoner. He would not listen when she tried do tell him she had to move on. So she wrote him this song to make him listen. That is why the song is with another type of feelings.. She is ending their work together (1967-1974 The Porter Wagoner show) Listen to the lyrics again and you will hear her "talking " to him.

Dolly said “Elvis was set to record I will Always Love You but, the night before the session, Colonel Tom [Parker, Presley’s longtime manager] called me and said, ‘You know, we don’t record anything with Elvis unless we have at least half the publishing.’ I said, ‘I can’t do that.’ And he said, ‘Well, then we can’t do it.’ And I cried all night, because I’d just pictured Elvis singing it. I know it wasn’t [his decision], but it’s true. I said no.” Dolly wrote the song for Elvis to sing.. The world missed out on that

Dolly started to gain some fame when Porter Wagoner hired her to be his"girl singer" on The Porter Wagoner Show and when she decided to go out on her own he got very mad at her and sued her and stuff. She said he just wouldn't stop yelling long enough to listen so she wrote I Will Always Love You for him. She said he cried when he heard it but i think she still had to pay him, I can't remember about the final payoff but she's very open about it. She used the Whitney profits to buy Dollywood. I heard her say that just a few weeks ago on The Sherri Shepherd show I think it was.
