Gonna be honest, they should probably make death counter work like death blow either that or they make it so that when you use it you'll appear infront of the closest person for a brief second (kinda like he did to Genos) and if they attack you the normal dc cutscene happens and they die But if they don't attack you'll just sneeze them away dealing about 50 or 34 dmg.

Here is a tip on how to identify a death counter when fighting a group of toxics (hope it helps): so basically, when they keep targeting you and one of them comes back after a while, it’s a death counter. If he stands there and does nothing, it’s a death counter. This only applies to all Saitama users btw.
