Now, prescribed medications, while helping people - many of these drugs aren't tested over a long period of time and have highly addictive qualities to them. Look at any street drug, they are the byproduct of an once readily available medical drug (cocaine, for example, was a medical drug for decades). With the careful prescription and administration by trained medical professionals they are safer, however keep in mind that heroin was created as a "safer" alternative to morphine. That being said, I know many people who are alcoholics and people who are addicted to prescribed medications... so, at the end of the day, addiction no matter the format is a destructive force in our lives.

There are some studies that just came out that show that some psychotropic drugs can help cure depression. I think everything can be used for good or ill, depending on what you do with them. (That said, my only vice these days is caffeine. DON'T TAKE MY CAFFEINE AWAY FROM ME!!!!!!!!! Maybe I need to cut down, TBH.)

xingcat I have anxiety which I have learned to control and talk myself down. But every once in a while I have gotten in to a slump when I am seriously stuck. Prescriptions never worked. One good blissful mdma trip would straighten me right up. I am a believer.

xingcat LSD and Magic Mushrooms have both shown extremely interesting and positive results in treating people like myself with PTSD, chronic depression, anxiety disorders and even Aspergers, if the person with it has chronic depression and social anxiety. I had some earlier this year along with a small amount of MDMA powder, being very careful to take small doses and see what happens in an environment surrounded by friends and my husband who have all taken both drugs over the past 2 decades. It was very pleasant, something that I enjoyed and I now know that I can take them in small doses without harm, just so long as I keep drinking water as I usually do.

Miss Anthropy I can vouch for this! I have both ADHD and bipolar disorder with extended depressive periods, and one dose of acid, done in a responsible way, without caffeine or alcohol, weed or anything, has drastically positive effects that lasts for weeks. It aids me in my meditation and helps me overcome mind body separation and let's me out of closed thinking patterns. I've used and abused many substances, both illegally and prescribed antidepressants, mood stabilizers and ADHD medication, but nothing has worked as well as LSD has. In fact I've never been worse off than when I tried ADHD meds and lithium.

Technically the only "harmful" physical side effects only happen if you don't know what you're doing. Taking too many tabs at once or not being in a comfortable, controlled environment may lead to a bad trip/ mental spiral at worst, but it won't cause you to self harm nor will it leave permanent physical damage to the brain or body.
