This song is from his 1975 LP "Rock 'n' Roll" which is all covers of 50's - 60's songs. It was the last LP released before he dropped out of the music business and became a house husband. It's been over 40 years since we lost John - it still hurts today to think about all that we lost.

I think it was wise for the members of The Beatles to disembark on their solo careers. At the time it was a big shock to everyone, but now you can look back and see what creative geniuses they were, and that they had to spread their wings and discover their own artistry. Love and miss Lennon. There will never be another one like him. I agree with you guys on needing someone like John Lennon right now. Thanks George and Patrick. 🇨🇦❤

the fact is that regardless of the reasons, the beatles would split up ... It got to the point that all the members had matured so much that they themselves felt that their creativity was being limited to being stuck in a collective project. I believe that if John Lennon hadn’t died in 1980, eventually they’d get together for some kind of special event like Live Aid, but they’d go on to solo careers.

Ben E King wrote the song, I believe. John's going back to an old R&B song. I like that he kept it simple. The Beatles were worn out with each other. Everything they did was so mistreated by press and fans. We expected too much from them. They gave us so much high quality music during their time. Think how many throw away LP's the old groups have produced over the years. They never put out a bad LP. Unheard of!!! I love John's solo stuff. Thanks for sharing this song. Been awhile since I heard it. Y'all rock!

I was lucky enough to go to a Beatles concert in Abergavenny, Wales in 1963 - I was 10. Sadly, there was so much screaming from the audience that we could not hear any music being played. Such a wasted opportunity to be able to hear them live!!

John was a genius. An underrated genius! He was a great songwriter. Some of the time and key changes he used were insane. His lyrics were powerful and he was afraid to push the limits with phrases such as “turns me on when I get lonely”, “what do see when you turn out the lights...I know it’s mine”, “when I feel my finger on your trigger.” No one will ever come close!

I always liked & totally RESPECTED the Beatles, then I watched John Lennon's documentary 'Imagine' & it was LOVE... it was such a magical look at his life. One scene that still resonates with me, is when a dude (clearly on LSD trip lol) was stalking him & his house & he talked to the guy like "I'm nobody special, I'm just a human like you, etc" & fed the guy, calmed him down. You think of these no talent hacks screaming they are GODS, and here a true musical hero, was humble & human.♥️

I still weep for him, even now. Every 9th October and 8th December (4 days after my 19th birthday). I was gutted to the depths of my soul, which now had a (bullet shaped) hole permanently. All 4 were the magic, together. One small change and they may never have made it. They were of their time and ahead of it. They had to split, they were grown men with wives and lives. Lennon's No.9 Dream is about how much like a dream it felt, but to him it was real. They couldn't go on to Vegas as 30year old men, singing I want to hold your hand. Heartbreaking but what they needed and wanted was to do their own thing. They were right to break up when they did. And I adore them.

John Lennon from the time he was a teen had a "I don't give a fuck" attitude about societies perceptions. This is why he was revered and why he embodied rock and roll. The beatles really had so many things pulling them apart, mostly business management, but also just adult life. All four of the beatles had left by 1969 at least once and come back, and all thought they would continue to work together as friends whenever they felt like it. George was the most solo of the group. John and Paul actually got along most of the time, and most of them got along most of the time. Alan Klein, a new manager in 1969 caused the final split, and the lawsuits that caused the public arguments that family will have that shouldn't have been public. It was overblown in the media. They had to work off each other to be their best, but they were all great, even Ringo.

Woke up to my clock radio one morning, and the first sound I heard was that John Lennon had died. I wasn't even sure I was awake, since the news was so surreal. Lennon lived between my mother's and father's buildings in the city, and I used to pass by on the bus. The amount of people standing outside his door was incredible. RIP. @BroAction, if you want to see his building in a movie, watch "Rosemary's Baby" with Mia Farrow. Great creepy movie.

Yes, this song was sung by Ben E King and partly written by him. I love this song and it is instantly recognisable; I certainly remember him singing it but I don't think I've heard the John Lennon version before. John Lennon was such a talented guy and a great songwriter. I had the album Imagine and there were so many fab songs on that. Really enjoyed your reaction guys as always. Blimey, I see that your other channel has reached 20k subscribers - that is pretty good! I know that you said that there are plenty channels with loads more subscriptions but in my opinion there are also lots of channels with far fewer subscriptions and they've been going much longer than you. So, I think you're doing great - well done!

The song is a cover of a 60’s r&b song. Lennon’s version was on his Rock & Roll album, maybe around 1975. Would be 5 years before he’d release new music because he devoted time to Yoko and Sean. 1980 was last year he’d release new material in his lifetime. Who knows what more he could have given the music world. You asked if it was a wise move for the Beatles to split. I think it was, because when they started they were fairly young and tried to find their voices. By the time they split, everyone grew up, had families, got married and became more mature guys. Going to your 20’s to entering your 30’s is a big transformation because physically and mentally your not the same person as you were as a kid. They had to see if they could make it on their own, and as we’ve seen they certainly could. As a band and their solo careers showed how talented they were.

I think it was a mutual decision between Paul and John to dissolve the Beatles and there were certainly other factors. They both had some solo success as did Grorge and Ringo, but I can only imagine what the Beatles would have created if they had stayed together.

Just an FYI, John's oldest son Julian really looks and sounds a lot like John. He's 58 now but is a very talented singer, musician and photographer. He had several songs on the pop charts when he was younger. Check out the live version of "Too Late For Goodbyes" kzbin.info/www/bejne/oYLUmqBmdrGXd8k He also does a version of Stand by Me for a Gala in 2011 when he's much older.

The Beatles didn't break up because of Yoko Ono. Mccartney's wife's father took over their finances and Paul had to break it to John that the Beatles didn't own their own music. Michael Jackson ended up buying most of their catalog.

John Lennon made this album named "Rock'nroll" because he made an agreement with Chuck berry , who was going to demand him cause Lennon stole his song "You cant catch me" and made "Come together"· You can see some expresions are simply the same . Paul Mccartney Knew the two songs sounded similar and made John change it to the final version included in Abbey Road album. But in 1973 Chuck who was tired of "white musicians" copying his songs and making more money than him with them," (Beach Boys copied Sweet little sixteen in their song Surfing USA) In this agreement Lennon gave part of the Benefits of this record to Chuck Berry and included the two "stolen songs· in it: You Can't catch me, and Sweet little sixteen. If you react to the John Lennon version in this album of "You cant catch me", you will see how similar is with ·come together·

The Beatles breakup was inevitable and needed at the time. Every band reaches a peak and a breaking point. The solo stuff is great. Other than the tragedy that happened the day John Lennon was murdered, the other tragedy is that I truly believe the Beatles would have gotten back together and reunited to record new music which unfortunately would never happen. We can only imagine what great music they would have made if Lennon survived. Truly one of the biggest tragedies in rock n roll history.
@BronyDanProductions
@BronyDanProductions 3 жыл бұрын
In my headcanon, had John Lennon survived, he and the rest of the Beatles would meet up occasionally, just to rebuild their connection, then in 1985, they decide to do Live Aid. This sparks an idea to work together again, and they produce another album in 1986, that does well and the Beatles are back in the public eye, but they still do their solo work, until they decide to do another album in 1988/89. Then George says he’s going to take a bit of a break, like John had done, until they come back together to start work on the Anthology project.

I believe his 1970 album was cathartic for him and necessary to make as a solo artist. But he became more of a causal writer during the time with the Beatles -- writing about three-four great songs per album. So I think his album output would''ve even been better post-1971 had he stayed with the Beatles or made more albums with Yoko in which he didn't have to labor over 10-12 songs every year as though it were a job. For instance, Imagine is way too short and I believe songs like How Do you Sleep were just filler. With that said, I wish he had made more of these albums anyway. Music suffered a great loss without his output from 1981 and beyond.

It's rare for me to choose a cover over an original .. nothing diff here. Ben King co-wrote this along with 2 others, singing lead as the original artist who performed this song. I really like his version best. Yoko Ono .. ugh!! Lennon has her "making noises" on some of his music which I never understood. Hearing her on any of his music is absolutely unbearable .. I just can't listen to her. This isn't a bad cover of course. Was a nice reaction vid guys .. b safe & well .. peace out✌🏼🤘🏼❣️
