How random to stumble across this video...I'm a native Richmonder of over 40 years, but I've lived the majority of my life in Goochland Co., just west of Henrico and very close to 250, or Broad St. Bit bummed you didn't take Broad all the way to Goochland! I remember the days when Broad was a 2-lane country road from Goochland to Gaskins. All of the development seen past Gaskins and into Short Pump (last section seen in the video) has sprung up over the last 20-30 years. Used to be nothing but farms and fields. When my 99-year-old grandmother, who still lives in her original house, first moved to her home close to Broad and Parham, in the 50s, that area was also rural. Really saddens me, actually. Some say, due to the ever-expanding development, Broad will one day make Charlottesville a suburb of Richmond. If so, I hope I don't live to see that day!

U.S. Route 250 (US 250) is a route of the United States Numbered Highway System, and is a spur of U.S. Route 50. It currently runs for 514 miles (827 km) from Richmond, Virginia to Sandusky, Ohio. It passes through the states of Virginia, West Virginia, and Ohio. It goes through the cities of Richmond, Charlottesville, Staunton, and Waynesboro, Virginia; and Wheeling, West Virginia. West of Pruntytown, West Virginia, US 250 intersects and forms a short overlap with its parent US 50. In Virginia and Ohio, the route is signed east-west. In West Virginia, the route is signed north-south. U.S. Route 250 was created in 1928 and was originally routed from U.S. Route 50 in Grafton, West Virginia north/west to U.S. Route 20 in Norwalk, Ohio. In 1932, the route was expanded north/west to Sandusky, Ohio. In 1934, the route was expanded southward and eastward to Richmond, Virginia. - from Wikipedia I live in shockoe bottom rva a few blocks over from broad St.

I think that if you use the actual city limits Cary Street might be a little bit longer than Broad. Both have clear-cut Eastern endpoints--for Broad it is at Chimborazo Park where you started, and for Cary at Pear Street. To the west Broad continues on into Henrico County (about 17:50 in the video at the Staples Mill Rd intersection) and the name is still "Broad" but you have *technically* left Richmond at that point. Cary runs into a spot where it branches into River Rd and Three Chopt Rd, but this spot is a good bit further west because of where the city/county border runs. Come back and do the full run of Cary sometime!
