One is ment to be used for photos and the other for video

Its just quality vs Convenience... Consider the sensor size and explain how the size of the sensor determining the quality. Even though the Mirror less cameras having full frame sensor can only be used for selective purposes, the quality of output will be far better than small sensor cameras.

Can you use 1 broadcast camera to broadcast a football match on tv ?
@damonabets37794 жыл бұрын
Yeah you could our local tv dose
@weeardguy4 жыл бұрын
Ofcourse you can. But please edit it down to the best bits as the same angle all the time gets boring. I know a local TV-station that does this and it's pretty pleasing to watch: just the goals or good chances of scoring are shown (just like the end of the match ofcourse) while the rest is edited out. Just make sure you use a good tripod. You do not want to be doing this for 2 x 45 minutes if you're not trained to do this for prolonged times.

As a pro AV guy. We laugh at anyone who attempts to use a DSLR for anything other than stills. Professional connections is the main one. SDI, and XLR. Are mandatory for pro work. If you want a dslr to do everything a ENG camera does out of the box you have to buy $1000s worth of accessories and add ons. And it ends up looking like Frankenstein's monster.
@weeardguy4 жыл бұрын
OH YES! I SECOND THIS! I'm in this group on Facebook for creators in the AV-industry. All the whining from those idiots like 'I have problem, my mic has an XLR connection and needs phantom power, how do I connect it to my GH5/Canon EOSwhatever/Sony Axxxx) is just hilarious. And especially the youngsters (twenty-something year-olds) there are annoying. I don't know how many times you read something like 'Those are things from the camcorder era. But nothing is shot with camcorders anymore.' I could not resist to step into that conversation like 'Ahum... my equipment may be shoulder-mount stuff, but it's still a...' All those extra parts they need to convert a DSLR or similar into something a broadcast-camera has readily available always surprises me that they even get it to work in the end, considering all the weak connections in every chain. When I asked for spare parts of a professional video-lens servo-unit I was repairing (well, more revisioning) and expected to get zero replies, the 'oldies' suddenly spoke up ;)

@@weeardguy If you're laughing at "idiots" you certainly have some kind of ego problem. Every tool has its unique applications. DSLRs for example are amazing for budget low-light and cinematic shooting. Good luck capturing an image a full-frame f1.4 lens can get you with a broadcast camera in a night scene...
@weeardguy2 жыл бұрын
@@mrjazzycharon2 Yeah well, I'm sorry, but most people buy those photocameras because they are 'so good at shooting video at such a good price'. But they forget the battery is not made for shooting video and thus quickly drains, the device can overheat in warmer weather, is a pain to hold for longer than a few minutes, the screen is not good enough to see if you're in focus or not, the viewfinder certainly isn't good for long-term shooting, you can't just slap a professional phantom-powered microphone on it and lenses are hardly ever the all-round zoom-beasts like videocameras offer and certainly hardly ever provide the convenient motor-zoom foud on videocameras. So then the whining starts: they want better batterylife, a better screen, want 'that very good microphone' but the camera only provides a mini-jack (really? pro-AV? don't make me laugh), they want to be able to hold it better and longer... So what they do next is buy a shitload of very expensive accesoires that turn that 'inexpensive' camera into something that incorporates basically everything a pro videocamera already has onboard, while spending close (or more) to the same amount of money when they would have just bought a videocamera that does everything they want of-the-shelf. Many people feel that photocameras are the only cameras out there with large sensors, but that is just not true. There are many, many videocameras out there that feature a large sensor as well. As said, I'm always surprised that so many people even get to a decent result in the end considering all the wonky connections and add-ons that are strapped somewhere to their cages and what-nots.

Can you compare the image quality? Great video, by the way.
@weeardguy4 жыл бұрын
You can, but it's hardly a comparison as a broadcast-camera usually only has effective pixels on board for producing the image, where a DSLR/mirrorless camera can use the whole sensor containing far more pixels then necessary for a FHD picture, which is then reduced (resampled) to FHD. This can produce an incredibly sharp image the broadcast-camera will be unable to produce, but is usually not a problem as too much sharpness can be extremely annoying. It also depends on the lens and as broadcast-lenses usually are superior to most DSLR/mirrorless lenses when it comes to aperture-performance, it's a hard game. She already mentioned parfocality, but you also have aperture (iris in broadcast-cameraland) that comes into play. Good luck finding a DSLR-lens that has a 12 or 18 times OPTICAL zoom while it does not (or hardly) alter the aperture when zooming in. Usually, when it does alter the aperture, it's a minute step: something like F1.4 wide-open to F1.6 full-tele. You just won't find a lens for a photocamera that achieves the same results.

Good to hear ;) too many people seem to think a DSLR will solve all their problems ('because bigger sensor...'), but broadcast-camera's have so much advantages over DSLR's. Even small professional camcorders usually have the most important settings directly accesible.

Broadcasting cameras are for video professionals (TV cameramen, journalistic meaning) meanwhile DSLR's are for photography (amateurs most of them). You can't use a DSLR for LIVE broadcast an event!
@weeardguy2 жыл бұрын
Oh you can, but it will take a shitload of accesoires and a bit of luck (they can run hot and overheat, getting them to shut down), which makes it all the more susceptible to malfunction. First you will need a solution for better batterylife, then you will need to have a second monitor for better focus-capability and you will need HDMI-to-whatever kind of connection/standard you need for the live broadcast. And then you don't have a professional microphone connection anywhere. ENG cameras have a battery that lasts longer, increasinly support direct connections to streaming-modems by USB-connections, or, on the larger, more expensive models, direct integration of wireless-streaming modules that are inside the camera already and if not, just click on the back of the V-mount plate, with the battery clicking on the back of the transmitter/transceiver.

@Nordicus01143 жыл бұрын
if I'm going to do broadcast or any kind of tv or movie production I would rather use proper profeesional cinema or broadcast camera equipment. And maybe use dslr style cameras for specific purposes. I really don't get the hate over people using professional video equipment.
@weeardguy2 жыл бұрын
The 'hate' is not really hate I think, more of a complete lack of understanding by most people, that don't understand why you would buy a videocamera that costs 3000 bucks, 'because my photocamera is waaay cheaper and does the same thing!'. They think you're out of your mind, while they forget that a videocamera offers so much more convenience and connectivity that it's just no comparison. That most people don't even know that there are lots of videocameras with large sensors these days, does not help either. They think photocameras with their huge-ass sensors are the only video-capable devices out there, which just isn't true.
