That wasn't the only death that broke me. There was that of my grandma just 3 weeks after the Queen. On top of being paralyzed and demented by a stroke in her 70s (which made my life go downhill since then already), in 2021, she got COVID from her caretaker, but she managed to pull through thanks to the vaccine. The following year, however, she suffered respiratory and heart failure at the same time, which turned into a fatal condition by Saturday that ended up killing her on the same day. My mother couldn't even go around (only in the early morning and late afternoon) because she had just come back from her cancer operation and, to make things worse than bad, she was forced by her heartless brother (my uncle, who recently cheated on his wife!!!) to make the funeral preparations. Just a month later, our dog Daphne had an aggressive stomach ache that almost killed her, but it was all caused by the food we were giving him - that was not the first time it occurred in her life. She's fine now and eating the right kibbles. But that moment was terrible. Age only makes things worse (this year, she turned 13 - born in 2010): she has been diagnosed with cataracts, a heart murmur, and I'm even more upset than my mother, on top of the Coronavirus and the whole Ukraine Vs. Russia & Hamas/Palestine war scare. I think I'm losing my family... S-s-sorry, I'll need to work this out somehow! P.S. I also have a female cat. She obviously died earlier than it was announced. The official announcement was at 6.30pm but apparently the Prime Minister was informed at 4.30pm. The fact that the flag was already at half-mast and most of the news anchors were already wearing black would also suggest that. Indeed, I was watching Keir Starmer making his statement with regards the Fuel Crisis debate when the buzz went along the benches behind him. It was quite obvious from the look on their faces that it was much more serious than had been announced at that time (1.30pm approx) I believe they used the codeword London-Bridge (in the case of the Queen) to allow all members of the Royal Family to assemble before they let the news out to the wider world.
@joesmith18102 жыл бұрын
The codeword was "London Bridge is Down". Yes there would have been a delay between actual death and notification. However at least in the base of media outlets, every one of the UK outlets has what amounts to a "break glass in case of royal death" kit, with black suit&ties, up-to-date image collections of the queen, music, updated articles, etc. So they get notified, and immediately switch over to mourning, which includes wearing black, sad music, no advertisement, etc.
@ShadowLinkxMaster2 жыл бұрын
Half As Interesting broke down the process pretty well. The protocol for London Bridge Is Down is a pretty drawn out operation; by the time the news were given the official go ahead to announce her death, it would’ve already been a few hours since her passing. But you’re right, the faces of guards, the flag positions on the mast, and the earlier report of the Queen being under medical supervision was more than enough to predict the ominous report ahead.
@Fcutdlady2 жыл бұрын
Once her family were called to her bedside it was to be expected the Queen was not going to survive. I know BBC newscasters were said to keep a black outfit in thier office so one could be on hand in case of events like this . @furq3995 I stand by this for a couple of reasons. First, I didn't know about the scandal around him. No one did. And like the lunatic entertainment media, the guy's work is separate from how he conducts himself on a personal level. Second, there's a LOT of noise in regards of his mental health. If Huw has done this (guilty until proven otherwise), he seems to have some very deep mental issues that puts his ability to make at least reasonable decisions regarding behavior questionable. I don't condone his behavior in any way, should he be guilty, but he's allowed the benefit of innocence until proven otherwise. We do too much of that in the US.
@scotcarr3390 Жыл бұрын
@@Mattlawton-ft6ew See my response to furq3995 above. With this other caveat. One of the people named in the coverage of this scandal has disowned her mother's accusations. I live in the US & we jump to conclusions when it comes to accusations of this nature. I thought the Brits were more reasonable than we are. Finally, the work of a public figure needs to be separate from the person's behaviors or crimes. Different sphere, but let's take a look at a more serious situation. Paul Gadd/Gary Glitter was proven to be a far more despicable creature in a court of law. And yet, as revolting as I find him, I still quite enjoy "Rock & Roll Parts 1 & 2". Were it possible for another artist to do a decent cover of it, I'd gladly promote the cover.
