Simple yet effective explanations and examples of the BF. Biggest take aways are outside candles are BFs on a smaller TF and Stratters look for reversals at exhaustion risk = actionable signal. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience on various platforms!

Good explanation I believe the problem is when we don't look at the higher time frame and have it side by side, that is why we don't move our stops or dont have a hard stop in place. The broadening formation key is the entry, if you enter when it closes up on a 2-2 long or a 212 reversal long, you would expect a broadening formation upwards. You just sell it at the top or the worst you can do is break even. The worst it can do is break even if you move your stop to your break even. Unless you went long at the top and let it dip below your stop and you keep riding it down. Broadening formations are basically the opposite of a flag, or it is also known as a megaphone formation. The hardest thing if to determine your time frame and the charts that you are going to trade off. If you trade of a 5 mins, 15mins, or a 1H chart, you shouldn't switching back and forth between them, I learned this in a hard way, this is like entering on a 5 mins chart and exiting on a 1HR, etc. Rather have all of them on one screen. Cheers.

What if is a lower high but even lower lows. Downward or upward megaphone. Some trader says that's indication of major support resistance also reversal signal. Cuz so many traders are trading causing wide range. But then some trader says reversal sign should be small range/volume signaling 1 side is exhausting

Do you consider the angle that the broadening formation creates when making your highs and lows? If so, what is your recommendation as I feel like I am fitting a line to my expectations of a new possible high or low rather than letting price action dictate what the new highs or lows could be.

Hi Sara, thank you!!!! question on Stops when trading options. Which platform do you use.? I use E*TRADE and it requires contract value stops limit and not the actual dollar hard stop. At what point would you draw a new broadening formation? When it blasts through a high/low of the formation?

I meant to leave the comment about drawing broadening formations on BABA here. If you have timeframe conflict but you get a hammer 2 up, previous candle was a red 2 down, that would indicate a reversal to the upside, correct? And if that is the case, would it appear that it would the top of the broadening formation?
@brianmcmanus50453 жыл бұрын
Why did you call the red candle at the top of the broaden formation which was red a 2up? Is it because it open opened and closed above previous candle?

Hi Sara, thanks for the great content. I have a few questions. For trades taken off the daily, with targets from either the daily or weekly, do you have a minimum risk reward parameter in assessing to take the trade? What is your typical win rate % and average R per winner and average R per loser. It seems as though this system is high win rate low R so trade frequency is important. You have reviewed many examples of trades with multiple targets, how are you scaling? Lastly, you have also shown some examples with entry on daily using the trigger on the weekly as target. Do you ever add to the trade when hitting the weekly target instead of taking profits? Thank you for your time.

Sara, how do you recommend I come up to speed in the Strat? Are there free resources or do u suggest I pay and take a course and if so which one? I recently watched your interview with Richard Moglen and very much enjoyed it. I have to tell you, back in the 1990's I worked a little with Kevin Haggerty who ran the institutional desk at Fidelity. He taught me what he called the RST Strategy (Reverse Symmetrical Triangle). I have to tell you the broadening formation echoes of Haggerty's work and Kevin also told me that this came up through the generations before him...Human nature never changes...

Hi, thanks! I don't recommend people buy the course right off the bat. There is tons of free education on Twitter and it's a fairly simple strategy to comprehend. A great place to start is in my pinned tweet. I have endless amounts of info in there which contains a literal rabbit hole of information.
