As a Mormon, I can confirm that this song, to some degree is touching for me.

Am I the only one who noticed the similarities between the beginning of I Believe and I Have Confidence form the Sound of Music?? Was that deliberate by the writers or...?

Also a moment in You and Me that has a Wicked sound (toward the end). They paid homage more than once.

What gets me is that according to Richard Bushman, a professor of Mormon studies, the musical "was not meant to explain Mormon beliefs", and that "the ideas in this song are not doctrinally accurate"... ...Meanwhile, I'm sitting here like "erm, actually... it's pretty damn spot on."

Is this the last one? Can't believe I watched every one of these damn segments. Still haven't even seen the show lol. At least I saved 160 bucks until next season I guess. A lot of good people working on this, that's for sure!

Despite being agnostic, I would say that "I believe" is my favorite song in the entire musical.

If you type in A Month of Mormon to search one of the top suggestions is looking for day 29. Should be here by popular demand.

@10sAdict Yeah, why'd they have to pick February as the month!

@johnstall5350 did you see the show? because the whole point of it wasn't about new religions popping up, it was that in the ugandans hearts they believe they are mormon and that the specifics don't matter because religious stories are "metaphors". Religion was treated comically throughout the musical, but still with an overall blanket of this-is-something-good. i think you're mixing up heart of the show with events of the show. those are two very different things; the message and the literal

From what I know, there is no Mormon (at all) docturen that hint's or reveals " We can have a planet". That's Mormon folklore. Funny none the less.

The idea is hinted at in D&C 132 (men shall become Gods) and later elaborated upon in such sermons as the King Follett Discourse and some of the teachings of Brigham Young.

Sorry hadn't finished, it shows that there trying to portray the meaning of believing in something, they just use Mormons to do that

@johnstall5350 Just because the show pretty adamantly says that religious stories aren't fact doesn't make it anti-faith. The heart of the show is basically how that "scripture" itself isn't as important as the message it conveys, and shows how religion can help people in need. It's been described basically as "an atheist's love letter to religion". It's not destroying or mocking religion either, it's satire. Like who would actually believe in a magical aids fuck frog? That's pretty stupid.
