Perumchellur was considered to be the cultural capital of Kerala once upon a time and lost its glory due to modernization. In 2016 Sri. Vijay Neelakantan founded Perumchellur Sangeetha Sabha in memory of his great grand father Sri. P. Neelakanta Iyer (Company Swamy) to promote traditional music in the region. Since then music programmes of rich quality are organized and eminent musicians across the country are taking part. Perumchellur Sangeetha Sabha is one of the most vibrant Sabhas in South India.
