I am the Wrestlemaniac829, and we have a very bizarre rumble with Brock Lesnar against a swarm of Halloween’s most notorious figures. Throughout the years, they called Brock Lesnar ‘a beast’ especially for his reputation of bringing on the pain the moment fans hear his entrance theme. In modern WWE times, Brock Lesnar didn’t need make-up or eerie effects in his entrance for his opponents to fear him. His name alone sends shockwaves to fans as they know they are about to get their ass-kicked regardless of how strong, fast, or clever they are. This particular rumble was assigned to determine if Brock can live up to his moniker against some very sinister opponents this rumble can offer. Ultimately, despite some complications in between, the last competitor standing lived up to the Halloween scene just before the holiday: Jason Voorhees, who moments prior was initially eliminated yet somehow steals another slot to ultimately secure the victory. Some fans will immediately call foul as a result of this action, but let’s not put it past Jason to do something like this. You can literally throw Jason off a ten story floor, which would normally kill a regular guy, and he’ll just come right back ready to kill again. Moments like this demonstrate why Jason is an enduring figure in the horror franchise, always finding a way to come back even prior to his hiatus from the public eye. We may never know if Jason will ever come back to doing movies again, but securing a win in this rumble is what we call a rather ‘unique’ comeback. But who was my MVP of this ‘Brocktober’ rumble? Let’s get down to the numbers: Of the 27 men featured in this rumble, since two competitors entered twice and the last competitor was a no-show, only THIRTEEN were lucky to secure the most eliminations (Ironic, since the number is generally unlucky). The highest count reached up to ‘8’ eliminations, which is seven points higher than the average ‘1’ elimination. I give the Golden MVP Award for ‘coolest’ (Or ‘ghoulish’) performance to: Count Orlok With the release of the new ‘Nosferatu’ set to appear this coming December, Halloween was Orlok’s night to demonstrate why he’s still a terrifying presence in horror. Though some say he’s a knock-off of Count Dracula (Given its unauthorized and unofficial adaptation process), Orlok was ultimately part of a film that’s been an influential masterpiece of horror cinema (A template for the genre). We can only hope the upcoming remake will be as widely receptive positively as it did WAY back in the 1920s. A bit upsetting that he got eliminated just before he was about to win, but we cannot deny the dominance he displayed during this rumble. The nominees for the ‘Dull Participation Medal’ for the ‘lamest’ performance are: Ghostface… Jason Voorhees (1st run at least) … and The Grim Reaper I would say that the one most deserving of the medal is whoever decided not to show up for this rumble, but since we have NO idea who it is, I find myself with no choice but to stick with what I’ve seen. Since Jason’s victory marks him off the list by default, and since Ghostface is also another competitor who ‘actually’ eliminated a competitor, ultimately the Grim Reaper takes the rap especially since he didn’t really get a chance to shine. You’d think for a guy who was featured on a cartoon show and still inspires fear through various other characters would make for a looming threat to win… goes to show we can’t have high hopes for guys like him. Living up to the bizarre nature of this rumble before Halloween, Jason Voorhees secures his status as an opposing force in horror knowing he will do ‘anything’ it takes to win. As we get set for tomorrow’s festivities, we ask the following questions: With rumors of Brock Lesnar’s possible return to the WWE, is that really what the fans want to see? Will ‘Nosferatu’ be a box office success this December, or pale in comparison to the original? When we eventually learn who ‘botched’ their entrance to get in, should the superstar in question be given a chance to redeem themselves? And the biggest question of them all: Who’s next?
