That was what I talked about to my younger nephews when I tried to get them to understand MMA. They only understood WWE bullshit. Once i started talking about lesnar and showed them, they were fixated. And they never looked back sense. :D Lesnar did that.

I think if Lesnar went straight to MMA after college, he would have had the same skill set he had his entire career and would have SMOKED EVERYONE. He would have been the GOAT for a long time. That said, he didn't and while he had a great career he sadly didn't evolve his game enough to compliment his wrestling and athleticism. Dude was a monster though.

I think if Brock had started MMA right out of college and never went to the WWE, he would probably be in the heavyweight GOAT conversation. Say he trained Muay Thai and BJJ for 2 years from 2000-2002. He would have entered somewhere in the Couture/Barnett/Rodriguez era, I don't doubt that Lesnar would have been a long reigning heavyweight champion. But, real MMA fans know his teammate Cole Konrad is MMA's biggest 'what if' at heavyweight.

He started MMA in his late 20s, he had a long time off from actual competition by that point, he was thrust immediately into the top competition, he had a life threatening disease, and through all that he still managed to win the title and defend it twice, only losing to the best of the best, even beating a top 8 heavyweight after a 5 year layoff, of that's not impressive I don't know what is...

Nobody can convince me that Overeem didn't target Lesnar's body intentionally, knowing he had serious abdominal issues from his battle with diverticulitis. And rightly so. Take what your opponent gives you, and all's fair in love and war.

I mean Overeem is just straight up a better fighter than Lesnar in any circumstance. There's no way that fight goes past the first round (at best maybe the second) even if Lesnar was in perfect health. That's not even a slight against Lesnar to be honest. Overeem was just so much more skilled and experienced in Mixed martial arts. He had world class kickboxing and a stellar ground game (probably one of the best in the weight class) and this was Reem at his absolute best. Brock was good, but Reem had been honing his skills as a mixed martial artist since he was a teenager and fighting world class competition for over a decade by the time that fight happened. Lesnar just had trouble fighting people that elite (he had the same issue with Cain)

His drawing power can’t be understated. He’s one of the key reasons why the UFC, and MMA in general, blew up in popularity during the mid-late 2000s. Was he pushed too fast? Maybe, but he was a draw and Dana White needed to capitalize on that while he could. And it’s not like Lesnar was a complete nobody. The guy showed a ton of raw potential against veterans. You could say a lot of his opponents were past their primes, but even veterans would have a huge advantage over somebody completely untrained with no skills (going against the narrative detractors use against Lesnar). It wasn’t until the health issues popped up that Lesnar’s career started to torpedo. Not saying a healthy Brock would have beaten Velazquez or Overeem, but I think the fights look different had he been healthy.

Justin Gaethje. You’re just a wrestling fanboy or a dipsh!t if you didn’t recognize what people are talking about. Of course fighters don’t wanna get hit but pretty much no UFC fighters do what Brock does when he got hit. He just wasn’t used to getting blasted in the face by heavyweights like everyone else. And he didn’t even hard spar in training so he never got used to it. So, people have a real point when people say that. 7:18 you can clearly see what I’m talking about.

I find it odd, that a lot of people think of Cain as arguably the best HW of UFC history and a Prime Cain is scary asf.. Lesnar lost to him, like a lot of people got knocked out by him so why do we clown Lesnar for his loss? I was no fan of his back then but now? I actually like that he came to the UFC and he was a pretty decent fighter... Did he stay in the pocket and slug it out? no, but lets be real.. who would want to slug it out with a Prime Carwin or Cain?.

The name of his submission finisher, the kimura and all the history that comes with that name is what led me from watching WWE to watching UFC and falling in love with BJJ. So I can't be objective. But... He beat the heavyweight champion Randy Couture, Frank Mir and Shane Carwin fair and square. It's like Ric Flair said: "To be the man, you gotta beat the man." And Lesnar beat them. So he was the man. Until he wasn't.

Mark Hunt's post-fight complaining is all BS. I understand Hunt's complaint about the UFC knowingly letting Lesnar compete but Hunt also knowingly took the fight because he wanted the bigger paycheck that came with fighting Brock. They shouldn't have allowed Brock to fight but at the same time I have no sympathy for Hunt when he repeatedly said before the fight that he didn't care then whined about it and sued after the fight. He knew exactly what was going to happen and took the fight anyway.
