Eheim is my favorite heater..Definitely a quality heater..I had one in a pond ..The pond would dry out at times.The heater would still function and never broke. I do not recommend you ever leave a heater plugged in without water for obvious safety reasons.. but i did see the quality in these moments.. Definitely Eheim heater all the way though... Only heater i will use.

Hi, Brock! Your reef videos might just be THE most informative and helpful on KZbin. You’re great at explaining so much in a really concise way. Please forgive me for overlooking this topic if you’ve already explained it in depth, which you probably have done, but what kind of water do you use? RODI, tap, well water, etc.? Thanks in advance! Keep makin’ your great reef videos! Louie

brohoop LOUIE! I appreciate this so so much🙏🏻 up at the shop we use RODI water.
@brohoop6 жыл бұрын
Brock Leonard, thank you! So for your water changes do you fill up containers with your shop’s RODI water and carry it home? Or do you have your own RODI unit? One more question: your new tank is incredible but your old tank was incredible also. What made you decide to change from that biowheel HOB filter to the canister? Thanks again!
@BrockLeonard6 жыл бұрын
brohoop I carry water from work to home. We have plenty of customers that do have their own RODI units, but for me it’s like what’s the point, you know? The only and I mean ONLY reason that I changed to a canister filter was because they had a built in UV sterilizer. To be honest, I don’t like canister filters because they are too damn hard to clean. But I had a yellow tang in my 55 for years and years and it died of something that a UV Sterilizer could’ve killed so I beat myself up over that. But other than that I’d stick to my good ol’ emperor 400.
@brohoop6 жыл бұрын
Brock Leonard, gotcha. I’ve been deliberating whether or not to use tap water. I’ve heard all kinda advice on why I shouldn’t but I just hate making RODI water! My unit is sooooo slow. I’ve heard lots of people that have had success on tap but I know it can be tricky. Working in your shop do you hear from customers about doing reefs with tap? I’m really sorry about your tang. Yellow tangs are my very fave saltwater fish. Like you I had one for years before it got sick and a uv sterilizer could have saved it also. So I got one for the same reason you did. Thanks, man!
@BrockLeonard6 жыл бұрын
brohoop I’ve always learned that tap is just real dangerous. If you use the right products to kill the chlorine and all that, it can definitely work, but for saltwater customers we never recommend it. For customers that don’t use RODI, we recommend that they buy distilled.

Hey great video. very informative. i had an experience with saltwater for 5 years when i was in the philippines. But now living in new york city ive been hesitant to put up one salwater tank. May i ask some few questions with your 75 gallons. 1. what can you say about redsea max completensetup aquarium? 2. whats the model of your 75 gal aquarium? 3. what are you fish, corals and inverts in your 75 gal tank? 4. they said canister filter is not good for salwater coz if there is power outage. the canister will destroy the aquarium because of buildup nitrates nitrites from the the canistee since its not running. that sump filter is still a must 5. since u custom made ur led lights. do you have any suggestion for a premade led lights for a 75 gal? thanks man. and hope and i appreciate ur response soon.

Awesome reef dude. Have a question about the skimmer. I have the same and the bubbles are all over in the tank. How did you get yours not releasing micro bubbles in the tank. I am really desperate dude.
@BrockLeonard5 жыл бұрын
Ivan Topchiyski The tricks ive tried is making sure there’s a lot of current up top making the bubbles pop sooner. Also having the intake tube slightly out of the water in order to suck in bubbles. They come with those spongey black things but I’ve ever had great luck with them.

Do reef tanks require beneficial bacteria? Does a UV sterilizer and carbon filter interfere with that?
@BrockLeonard2 жыл бұрын
Beneficial bacteria is not required in the tank, but it does help. I've never used an added beneficial bacteria in this reef. The UV and carbon will eventually take it out.
