I've had mine for 2/3rds of a year and I have absolutely loved it, no way I could go back to not having this slot in my bag. I played a tournament this winter with a lot of wind and there was a hole where all four of us on the card threw a Get Freaky, 2 of us off the tee and 2 from the drop zone after not throwing it off the tee XD

I love the Zone. Right now using a 4x Paul McBeth World Champion ESP Zone, especially for sidearm approaches. But the Get Freaky is already here and waiting for the sports parks reopened - damn COVID 🤬

The ZFlx plastic is definitely one of the “straighter” Zones, especially for big arms with a lot of torque. If the ZFlx is too straight, the 2020 Tour Series or 5 Claw stamped Z are up there for very overstable. 4 Claws if you don’t mind breaking the bank.

As a newer disc golfer what is Get Freaky? Since the Zone is the name of the disc and Get Freaky isn’t the plastic type.
@leeroyjenkins59373 жыл бұрын
It’s one of Brodie’s “signature phrases” that he says in videos. It’s labeled as the “Get Freaky Zone” to fit into his signature line of Discraft discs.

Does anyone know how these compare to a drone? I'm not sure if I need this with a drone in my bag.
@CheatingLeftyDiscGolf3 жыл бұрын
For most players, there will not be to big of a difference distance wise. For myself, the Drone generally gets 10ft extra distance. But big arms will definitely see a difference in both flight and distance. Zone will get more mid flight turn, but since the Drone faster it will go further. I just can’t get past the rim of the Drone

Great review. The zone is a good disc, but I like my breaker.
@melvinrivera953 жыл бұрын
I as well have a breaker and a zone they def fly diff n feel obvious
@CheatingLeftyDiscGolf3 жыл бұрын
I love the Breaker for backhand as it flies like a seasoned XSoft Zone for me. So straight and dependable in the wind! Zone for me is more for forehand. If I were to forehand my Breaker it would hold a gentle turn and just level out at the end of the flight.

Why throw this over a Luna? Or any other putter? They are so overstable. I prefer a 3 speed putter, but will jump to a 5 speed approach. I'm a beginner so the jump from 3 to 4 isn't big enough for me to use one over the other. I have no need for overstable discs. Stabe to under is all I can use effectively.
@NickCarroll3 жыл бұрын
I have a Luna and from what I can tell from all the footage I've seen of the Zone, it's far more overstable. I would compare the Luna to maybe an Aviar3. Both great discs. I am *this* close to getting a Zone at this point.
@CheatingLeftyDiscGolf3 жыл бұрын
There are certain lines that a Luna can’t hit, like getting around a tight corner, or a shot where you need a very harsh fade, or if the wind is gusting. However, for true beginners starting out, I would suggest only getting either a light weight Jawbreaker or X Soft Zone for the wind. Those plastics are definitely a lot straighter and do not have the super hard fade as the premium plastic Zones. But in the end, not every disc is made for everyone. Which is what makes disc golf so amazing! Everyone throws them differently and have different uses for them!
@CherryB0mb3333 жыл бұрын
Once you get your arm speed up your bag will be begging for an overstable approach/get out of trouble disc like the zone or prodigy a2. OS discs like that really shine for distance control and flex shots not to mention they tend to be more reliable than stable and understable discs. My a2's save me at least 3 strokes every round.
@rogerhuston82873 жыл бұрын
@@CherryB0mb333 Right now, I can only throw about 45mph. For me that means a putter to 225, mid 250 and a fairway driver 275. At that speed I can't even turn over a GStar Roadrunner, but I found an older Champion that moves a bit. Still, I only have one disc that reliably turns over, everything else is overstable already, I don't need any more.
@CherryB0mb3333 жыл бұрын
@@rogerhuston8287 if I were you what I would do is try to develop a touch forehand or backhand whichever is your nondominant throwing style. Even if you can only max out at 100 feet. Take whatever low speed disc that is overstable to you out to a field and just get comfortable throwing it at all three angles so that you can understand how it flies. That's going to be your zone or a2 for now. Once you can reliably manipulate all the lines it will give you a LOT more options. Scoring well in disc golf typically comes down to having more options.
