How To Theme The SUCKLESS TERMINAL (Better known as st)

This time on annoying the suckless team we're looking at how to theme the suckless terminal, more commonly called st. This is one of the simpler things that we're going to cover in this series but I think it's still important to include.

i use the gruvbox theme but for some reason. when is use distrotube shell colorscripts, in other terminals you will see the difference between bright and normal colors but in st i can only see normal colors

How is it that the new st terminal still has transparency? I thought st doesn't have transparency support by default. I know you can make the whole program transparent with picom (compton), but it appears that just the black background is transparent on yours.

No the entire thing was transparent with Picom, I just run a high contrast theme to mitigate the effect.

I have installed the package st-manjaro, and I liked very much its color theme, specially the shades of green. I was wondering if there is an easy way to have that same color theme in alacritty (another lightweight terminal I like a lot)

Nice video!👍 Is it possible to configure st to show ligatures? I would like to use Fira Code font and see it's ligatures (it makes my dev life a lot easier). Is there some argument I would need to put in this st file that would make ligatures possible? Thanks in advance, Iggy

You made me search for what a ligature is. It doesn't seem to come with support for them at least judging by the 1 reddit post about it that never got answered and there's not a patch at this stage. If you wanted to go through the struggle of writing the support for it yourself it could be done I guess.

@@BrodieRobertson Maybe it's supported ootb, or maybe we could enable it somehow in the st file... I will going to try something in the next few days. If I find the solution, I'll let you know
