I remember I was a depressed 17 year old (over a decade ago) when I first learned of Steven Brody Stevens. I loved this guy. He made me realize that if you just keep at it, the real people who matter will recognize your talent. That’s what I’ve kept true in my heart since. My friends didn’t get him, my ex girlfriend didn’t get him, but he was special to me.

Mental illness is brutal. I have cystic fibrosis and social anxiety and even though it’s hard to breathe and my lungs hurt every day it’s the anxiety that has most affected me. To hate yourself and be unable to share yourself with others is way scarier and sadder than me dying from inability to breathe.
