In fact, it's illegal to not have Healthcare. That's why medicaid exists. Medicaid offers FREE medical care, dental care, and vision care. Additionally, each state also has their own healthcare marketplace that allows people to buy plans at a specific rate from insurance carriers available in their state. It sucks that more people don't know about this. At the same time, it's annoying how people assume that America is a cruel nation that doesn't provide health coverage to its citizens. Just wanted to use this as an opportunity to throw this out there: As someone who was diagnosed with celiac as an adult, as much as I think that guy’s other answers were iffy lol, I get where he is coming from with the food thing- and I also will say I didn’t truly understand how serious this disease was or the measures it takes to stay safe when you have it until I was diagnosed (and still don’t expect my non celiac friends to truly get it). But I will say groceries for celiac folks are significantly more expensive, and if you ever want to eat out or grab food at a bar you’re at your options are super duper limited. It’s more than an intolerance or allergy, it’s autoimmune and even a trace amount through cross contamination affects your organs. It can be hard because once you’re celiac, it can be difficult because no one really understands the seriousness of it
