i feel like he's so much better in Broken bells because the guitar parts he plays are more relaxed, where as i feel like in some shin performances it takes away from his vocals because he's doing both

Absolutely agree. I remember the first time I heard The Shins while watching Garden State; and just loved it. As.themovie was over I IMMEDIATELY Googled the sound track because I just had to know more about the band.

wow, I think they sound even better live than on the album. This less "produced" sound is really good (the album is good too, but IMO it's better in this "live" sound situation. Not even a need for overdubbing of anything, it just sounds fantastic).

This is pretty amazing. Brian Burton is a genius and he adds a lot of enhancement to the recordings in studio. It's really impressive that they can recreate their sound live. Their songs are well written and they are both major talents. What a band.

For some reason I can't get into The Shins, nor has Gnarls Barkley (other than Crazy) ever done it for me.....but Broken Bells is fan-bloody-tastic, a perfect melding of James' and Brian's talents. I love both their albums, and hope for many more.
