This song is so beautiful, much better than the original; mainly because it does not have the distortion distracting from James Mercer's angelic voice. I could listen to it over and over again, and I would never grow tired of hearing it. This was the first song I ever heard by Broken Bells, and they are now among my top 5 favorite bands. Then again, how could you go wrong with a duo like James Mercer and Danger Mouse? To put it simply; Fucking. Amazing.

The first few chords sound like the beginning chords of ''It's Only Life'' from The Shins' album, 'Port of Morrow'. Especially if you listen to the acoustic version of the song

I'm sorry...this response is much longer than I anticipated. I didn't get into Sparklehorse 'til 2013, 3 years after his suicide...and yet I still miss someone I never even knew when they were alive. I was just telling a co-worker about Sparklehorse at work tonight, and how you really shouldn't judge a book by its cover. I put off Sparklehorse for almost a decade...Here's how I first saw the name: I was watching an episode of the OC because at some point during the episode they were going to debut the new trailer for the 3rd Star Wars Prequel, so I painfully endured an entire episode of a terrible show just for a movie trailer. In a weird twist of fate, that episode of the OC also included a few Beck songs of his yet-to-be-released album Guero, and I was a huge fan of Beck at the time. This was early 2005...The last Beck song played in the episode was a song called "True Love Will Find You in the End". So a week or so later Guero was released and I picked it up and listened to it several times, but I felt like it was missing a song. I remember distinctly hearing Beck sing a song about "True Love"...So I started doing research and found that it wasn't on Guero, but was a song from a tribute album for Daniel Johnston (RIP), who I learned had written the song. So I started looking at all the musical artists listed on the tribute album, and Sparklehorse was one of them. As it turns out, Mark Linkous produced the album. So that was how I had first learned the name Sparklehorse. I thought it was a stupid name and never gave it much thought. Around 2013'ish I was watching videos on KZbin and saw in my recommended feed a song by Sparklehorse called "EyePennies". I finally gave in and said WTF and gave it a listen...I was treated to a hauntingly beautiful, sad and melancholy song with surprisingly poetic lyrics. So I figured I got lucky and heard the only good song by the band with a dumb name...Then I saw Sparklehorse did a "cover" of one of my favorite Cracker songs (I'm a huge fan of Cracker), which was "Sick of Goodbyes". So I listened to that one and I thought "well shit, this version might be as good as the Cracker version...maybe...gee whiz...it actually might even be better than the Cracker version". Then I looked the song up and to my amazement it was co-written by Mark Linkous and David Lowery. So there was a connection between Sparklehorse and one of my favorite bands. So I listened to another Sparklehorse song, and another and another...and I started to realize that I had made an 8 year mistake. I could have been listening to Sparklehorse since 2005 when I first saw the name, but I chose not to because I thought it was a dumb name. Sparklehorse (Linkous) quickly became one of my all time favorite lyricists.
