I was just looking at my boom the other day, and it looks like I have some corrosion in the same area. I should probably get it repaired in the spring. It's probably a good time to lower my mast and take a good look at it too. I guess they never thought about the reaction between stainless steel and aluminum 50 years ago.

Good job on the jury rig and I am glad you made it into Port Hardy. Still sucks having lost your boom but I guess the search starts now for a replacement. I always fear jibing and your experience shows why.
