Broken Down Sleeper Train Overtaking on the down line

Thanks to our mod, Mark, from down under for alerting me to this.
The sleeper train failed at Exeter last night so they had to send a couple of HST power cars to pick it up. Looks like they are racing as they pass The Blenheim cam.

Wow, I have never seen them use the up-line for a down-line train before. I remember they used to hold local trains at Dawlish Warren station for fast trains to overtake in the section with four lines.

it is a good sight. if there is nothing coming up they can go on the wrong track for couple of miles

Yeah, some trains get held at Warren for a fast as mentioned above, however this only happens when there is a delay. I've seen it once before, in a video of a GWR HST passing a delayed XC HST at Dawlish

Oh dear ... the ‘57 gone pop!! Good use of the HST Power Cars to drag .... quite a bit of horsepower there! Good use of the bi-directional signalling as well, only one winner in that race! Love the webcams (a shame this technology wasn’t around 40 years ago with Class 50’s about!) ... and lovely part of the world. 👍

Sleeper train does attend to brake Down a few times because of the locomotive not always reliable

I don't know why they can't use the power cars on the sleeper anyway. Can't be any different to them being used on the Castle sets. Or order a couple of bimode sets and fit them out as sleepers.
