DS1 and 2 are really the ones with the best "personality" over PvP I think (undepending of liking it or not). They really rewards you for taking risks, and really punish you for doing mistakes (even if it's for completly differents reasons) while DS3 mostly do the opposite. Plus they really have some mecanics to learn about, while DS3 only have the active poise as an unique mecanic to learn. Roll catch too, but that's something also present in other souls. It however has a good diversity over possible build (even if some weapons remains stronger, other are still playable). It is interesting too, but lacks a bit of depth I think. DS1 has a really big learning curve (which is cool), and DS2 feels in between. There's things to learn, but not as much as in DS1. But it allows the game to have enough depth to be interesting to master. And just as you said, the variety of builds is really cool. The only thing over PvP in DS2 that is really bad imo is soul memory (even with the ring, I really dislike the idea to lost a ring slot just to be able to stay near of meta level, where all the players are) but past this, this is a lot of fun, undepending of the build you're going on. Nice video anyway!

so true DS3 lacks any and all personality and every weapons feels exactly the same
@HomingAsatoMass6 жыл бұрын
I dunno man, especially the mindgame part in ds3 seems sufficiently deep to me. I don't really see how this game would benefit from some additional hours you need to spend on learning mechanics before you can sit down and refine your playstyle. Then again, I love the duelling scene in ds3 way too much, so my opinion is propably "somewhat" biased
@-v0n-6 жыл бұрын
I was mostly talking about the learning curve, rather than how enjoyable you can find the game to be. Over what you can learn from the game (for PvP), DS3 really don't have a lot, but that doesn't mean you can't like it (nor that it is bad, this point would be more of an opinion) Over mind game, that's something you can also find in other titles, this is what I meant by "doesn't have a lot of personality". DS1 and 2 has points that made the game truly uniques, while DS3 is more a refined version of souls game with way less things to learn (and less tricks to use). It is easier to take in hand globally. The hardest thing I've found to do in DS3 was using reverse backstep, and it was so situationnal to use that I can't really consider it as a core mechanic. Most of the time, what you will need to know is to roll catch, because roll is really forgiving and doesn't cost a lot to use (that's what I meant by DS3 don't really reward you for taking risks and don't really punish you for making mistakes). Your recovery is really quick for many actions, like some weapon (rapiere, straight sword, katana, etc..) attacks or using items, so it's quite easy to just estus in the middle of a fight (while doing this in DS2 and 1 is gennerally punished hardly) or attack and roll to avoid trades. Quickstep doesn't helps, and make weapons like daggers just completly stupid to use against heavy weapons. I'm not telling that DS3 is bad upon its PvP. What game you consider bad or not depends on what you like, and of course it is subjective. As an example, I don't really like the backstabs in DS1, but I still consider it to be interesting because you can learn it (and it's just a little part of what DS1 mechanic that can be learnt). And for DS1 in general, the game is really hard to master, and I understand that many people like it this way. My favourite one is DS2, because I really like the idea to make nearly any build viable, even if its base idea is quite stupid (I've seen a working 1 INT sorcerer build). I really like diversity, and DS2 really do that well. Between powerstance, between weapons movesets and special weapons (like blueflame!) and with the number of differents spells the game has, you can barelly do whatever you want. But I'm also having fun to play DS3, and had fun to sometime come back to DS1. If DS1 depth is an abyss, DS2 depth would be a rift and DS3 a crack. But this doesn't mean that one would be better. Depth is not everything ^^
@HomingAsatoMass6 жыл бұрын
I wasn't assuming that you were bashing on ds3 ^^ I just think that ds3 has more depth and especially variety than people give it credit for. Just because ds3 doesn't have many mechanics, doesn't mean that the mechanics it has aren't hard enough to master to create a certain amount of depth. Right now I have like 1,5k hours in the game, most of which went into duelling, and there still is a huge gap between me and top players like bdubz and painted phantoms. In a game with minimal depth, I don't think such huge differences would be possible.
@-v0n-6 жыл бұрын
Acutally, a game can have a little depth and still have gaps between comon player, good players and really good players. Depth is based over the quantity of things you can learn from a game, and how hard it will be to master it. I never said DS3 had no depth, just that it has way less than DS1 and 2 ^^ But this is not because a game has less mechanics, that it doesn't ask skill. DS3 still have a huge skill cap, and being really good at it asks some knowledge. I'm just telling that, compared to DS1 and 2, it is not a lot. For variety, I never said it had none! Far from it. I think the one that lack the most variety would be DS1. Fighting games are the most representative. A game like the Ultimate Ninja storm has little depth over mechanics, but the difference of level between of good player and a really good player is still impressive. While a game like Tekken, Street fighter or Blazblue, has a lot of depth (and the difference between a good player and a really good player is terribly high). I don't know if you understand what I'm trying to say ^^'

Loving the highlights. Still can't imagine you as an invader. Especially because you almost never show footage of your invasions. Live invasions episodes when? Also, DkS 2 is rationally the best Souls game for PvP, and yet it is the one game I don't feel like revisiting at all. It's weird. Also also, I might be blind, but where's the poll at?

"Dark Souls PvP is fair and balanced and totally makes sense, especially with backstabs and infinite stunlock" Yeah, miss me with that shit. That backstabs are the worst thing that there can be
@armorparade6 жыл бұрын
you know, all of you people that come into comments moaning about backstabs never really have good arguments against them, even after people explain over and over how to deal with them. you don't even need to utilize glitches to get around backstabs, even though they help a lot and give you more options. unless you or your your opponent is playing on mcdonalds wifi you have options to deal with backstabs- options that the game presents to you in a way that you can understand if you pay attention. yall are just bad. the only valid complaint ive heard is that backstabs do too much damage and i don't think anyone disagrees- but everything does too much damage in this game. but aside from that, it's a wonder that the game is as balanced as it is
@JumperMelon6 жыл бұрын
backstabs are one of the most balanced mechanics simply because its a strong tool literally everyone has access to
@OleksandrSlepnov6 жыл бұрын
I just love how everyone here probably cheesed backstabs in theirs duels, and probably hated DS3 for double check for backstab, because now they cannot abuse poor net code to deal a lot of damage and chain backstabs anymore. I know how to deal with them, I know to make them happen, and they're STILL one of the most cancerous things. Second to people who justify them
@hitler696 жыл бұрын
are you actually complaining about chain backstabs..?
@OleksandrSlepnov6 жыл бұрын
durp hurp oh no they're completely fine nice mechanics that is in no way not stupid-looking and/or completely logical and hasn't been fixed in the next games of the series
