Hmm. I’m not sure what would cause it. I know if you hold on to it to long it won’t lift up. Has to be a quick pill and release.

Do you know of any rudder upgrades? For example, the older stow and go rudder kayaks had the large sailing rudder upgrade available.

I noticed my rudder doesn't spring up as easily as yours does. Wonder if mine has too much slack in the line. I'll have to check it out.

I think the spring is based on the bungees. Maybe tie the bungee a bit tighter.

Got mine off of ebay. Cost a boatload in shipping, excuse the pun, but i got it two weeks ago. Look for Three Belles Outfitters. I think they're in Connecticut.

Unfortunately I couldn't undo the Philip's screws, that had too much locktight on them. I contacted my hobie dealer, and they are sending me a new rudder, with free return for the other one. There is no where on the Internet about how to replace the sacrificial rudder pin you fed the line through, so what you did must be how you replace that as well . Hopefully not too much locktight.

@@NavarreKayakFishing True true. I would give hobie a shout out though. I know on a business stand point you don't want to put down a company. On the other hand if it is just a knot that they didn't do today maybe tomorrow they may not put an important screw in some where and no your floating in the gulf. Mistakes happen. Not the worst thing in the world. Glad you fix it. I see a video on what to bring for a hobie tackle box soon!!!!!
