Informative video. Thanks. FYI the video title and last chapter have a typo or auto-correct flaw- How do pill "pugs" fit into a healthy garden?

Thanks for watching and for the tip about the typo!

Is your greenhouse heated? And what zone are you in? I’m in Vt. with unheated greenhouse and wondering what & when to plant in there.

I can heat my greenhouse but I do so very minimally during the growing season. We're in Zone 4b but also at altitude so our nighttime temperatures can get fairly low. Below is a planting calendar if you want to be heating your greenhouse and maintaining it at a certain temperature. If you don't, and depending on your nighttime temperatures, I would say shifting a month later might be good. For example, I'm typically getting stuff seeded or planted in my greenhouse in early to mid-March depending on the temperatures since I don't heat the greenhouse. But you can also gain a lot by using frost cloth inside the greenhouse, which is what I do. Feb: plant cool weather greens (kale, lettuce, spinach, arugula, carrots, radish, peas, etc) - keep heater at a minimum of 32. Mar: plant warm loving plants (tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, herbs, beans, etc) - keep heater at a minimum of 42. If it's a cold March, plant mid to end of March. Apr: plant warm loving plants. If too cold in March, plant in April. Continue planting beds and shelves. Oct/Nov: Depending upon weather decide when to shut off heater and pull out plants. You can keep greens going all winter if you are willing to keep heater at 32.

@@BrokenGround I noticed your row covers. How low can the temps get and still have success with row covers in an unheated greenhouse? We are still getting temps into the teens at night, 20’s in the greenhouse.

@@DDGLJ The temperatures can get pretty low but it sort of depends on how well insulated your greenhouse is. Do you have a thermometer in there? Row covers in a greenhouse when it's in the 20s is definitely not a problem. In the teens, it can be iffy. Sometimes, I do row covers and then on particularly cold nights, I add a blanket as well. Last night, for example, it got down to 15 degrees and my plants were fine with a row cover and a blanket. Hope that helps!

@@BrokenGround Thank you for your response. I have a very well-insulated polycarbonate greenhouse and two thermometers. I had been using Costco muffin containers (those are actually useful for a number of things!)with blankets, but my plants are getting too big. I just got my first fleece row cover. Temp supposed to be in the 20’s outside tonight, so I’ll give it a go!

@@DDGLJ Good luck! Let me know how it goes! I think you should be okay given that you're well insulated!
