A trick for getting carrots to germinate is to lie a board on top (of where you have planted them) for the first week. Remove after one week. I've used the method for the past two years and it really works. Also, carrot seedlings need to be thinned. Good luck on your root vegetable garden!

Use what you have and whatever works right? I'm growing turnips for the first time this year. I haven't tried those big yellow carrots yet. Almost bought some but have so many seeds I need to use before they go south on me and die I figured I best be using those first. With the turnips the nice thing is the greens and roots are good to eat. I prefer turnips raw and the greens cooked like spinach are tasty. I am steeling myself against the insect pests this year and putting a row cover over the garden boxes this year to keep the leaf miners, root maggots and other uninvited bugs off the plants. Hard to do when those leaves are so pretty to look at in spring.

That’s great to know about the turnips! Like I said I’ve never had any! Since this was my first year really growing from seeds I just ordered all I wanted lol next year I won’t buy so many seeds! At least that’s what I told my wife! Lol

Where did Scottie go? Who is this guy showing us about his gardens 😂. Those carrots look great. Do you bake radishes with butter and onions. Yummy. This will be great. That rabbit poo will help a bunch.

Wait, what, the last video I saw was your beard oil, etc. Lol you look younger without a beard. I don't do fancy either. I do cost effective lol. We liked the Asian turnips we tried from Baker Creek last year. It was sort of like big radishes. I hope your garden does well. I LOVE mizuna mustard on salads.
