The desire to make foreign imported entertainment as different or "Americanized" as humanly possible was really only a thing when these dubbing/localization companies first started, and they were way, WAY more amateur in method and production than the big time corporations they are now. Funimation back then was basically TFS. Now that dubbing and importing is a much more professional and "official" process (plus the cynical attitude towards the attention span of the average American child back then is now gone...sort of), there's no need for it. There's also the fact that, well, have you HEARD the audio quality of DBZ in original Japanese? Yeah it kinda sucks. A lot. So there was that too, which modern productions thankfully lack. I know I know, everyone still wants it because of "muh Nus Tall Gee Uh", but there's a pretty clear reason why the stuff that used to happen isn't happening anymore.

I’d hate to have been any other the Z fighters in this scene fighting Broly, but I’d have especially hated to be Vegeta. Broly in his LSSJ state is stated to be anywhere from 9-9’3 tall. Even at that size when he clotheslined Vegeta, you can hear the “pew” sound as he slammed him into that building. Screw that.
