Very nice video and the scenery of the journey is beautiful. Your video makes me want to ride again in the UK countryside. I bought my Brompton in 1992 while a student in London. Years later passed it to my brother who resprayed it, changed every part except the frame and handle bars. Still rides surprisingly ok today! Jerry, Singapore

Thanks, Jerry. Yes, we still have some nice parts of the countryside to cycle through and you can appreciate it so much more when travelling by bike. Glad your Brompton is still going strong, they definitely are very well made and we hope ours will last a lifetime! Perhaps you should think about buying yourself a new one!! Mike

Great video! Inspired me to get a folding bike, love the music too. :)

Thanks for your comments, Rhys. Having a folding bike certainly opens up a few more opportunities for cycle touring. Hope you enjoy riding yours!

I used to bring my bike down on the train from Motherwell when I stayed with friends in Windsor. I enjoyed cycling in the South especially as it was much flatter than in Scotland.
@MikeMcEnnerney10 жыл бұрын
Yes, Jay, flatter certainly is easier, especially on a Brompton! I have been reading about the possibility of fitting them with more gears through a company called Kinetics (kinetics-online.co.uk), based in Scotland. Tempting but expensive!

Thanks for your comment. We were really lucky with the weather and it was hot and sunny for the last few days - a bonus - and the Bromptons performed well, so we were happy!

I'd love to cycle along the canal long distance but what stopped me is the thought that when my bike is fully loaded with panniers i would be taking up the whole of the toe-path.
@MikeMcEnnerney10 жыл бұрын
Yes, Zeus, that was not a problem when touring with the Bromptons. We also tour with full-size bikes with side front and back panniers. Although there are some narrow parts along the canal route, on the whole there would be plenty of room for a loaded bike.

Yes, the scenery was lovely and we enjoyed cycling through it on our Bromptons.

Thanks for your comment. It was a very relaxing ride - no hills! A bit bumpy in places along the canal, though!

It's a while since I last view this and I have to say, I have to up my review to excellent video. Did you use more than one video camera? Was it a chest mounted action camera and say a Panasonic HC-X900? As the quality in 1080 on my iMac is stunning. Wonder what your two thumbs down, could improve on.
@MikeMcEnnerney10 жыл бұрын
Hi Dave, thanks for kind words, yes you're right, some of the video clips were shot with a different camera, it was a DSLR Nikon D7000. The shots taken while riding the bike were with the GoPro - some chest mounted, some helmet mounted. I hope to shoot some more videos this year, so watch this space!

Great vid, done bits of cycle touring but never on my Brompton. Looks great.
@MikeMcEnnerney10 жыл бұрын
Thanks, John. You do have to revise what you pack when touring on the Brompton and try to pack lightweight, but we were touring with full camping and cooking equipment and managed to squeeze it all in!

How are you liking those P-style handlebars? I'm leaning that way myself, so I'm very interested in your feedback. Thank you for the great video!
@MikeMcEnnerney10 жыл бұрын
Sorry about the late reply, Sabatheus! Yes, we are happy with the P-style handlebars. They give you the option of varying hand positions when cycling all day, although they do add to the overall weight of the bike. Worth it, in my view!

I ended up going with the H-Style, which I love. But I secretly want the P-Style too...wish I could swap a will. :D

Sorry for the long delay in replying. I don't normally hold my phone but I was searching for a campsite. Unfortunately, there's no more room on my handlebars for another mount! Thanks for your comment.
