LOVE mine - stops better if feather the brakes btw. Never bring lock, goes inside w/me. REI only sells one - 4-speed electric - will exch/return year later in Sep & get 12 speed (elsewhere?) Need lower gears for the worst horrible hills (handles most fine) in my town, better travel options, and longer range/lower gears, and more use w/out power. Surprisingly motor gives great boost - took 2h on Amtrak (stored above my seat!) to DC brompton store tried a manual 12 speed in Georgetown - REALLY noticed difference w/out from the Potomac up Wisconsin Avenue hill! Seeing museums in DC on brompton was great! Checked bike inside a bag at luggage room at national gallery or luggage storage companies.

I brought my 4 speed electric P line in London, England last week. My first task was to go on the London Tube during rush hour. It came with the advanced 4 wheel rack and so was easy to move around folded. even went up and down in the escalators. My deal breaker was portability and whilst I looked at other folders, nothing came close to the Brompton for portability. As for the battery..... I have seen comments that it looks antiquated and does not have the sleek design of internally hidden features, but I like it that as a 67 year old woman I can lift a much lighter bike of less than 35lbs whilst having the battery as a cross over bag on me.

Buy the new $85 Brompton Transit Transport Bag - has two Velcro straps inside it that strap onto the bike, which make carrying it over your shoulder very stable. This is the bag I used to check at the Washington DC national Gallery coat room. Walk in guard directed me coat check I told staff it was a folding ebike. They had never seen one before loved it and checked it. And spent the next few hours looking at the impression exhibit! They sell a nice simple cover for it too $50 . That is good for rolling it to the train or having it around it on a train, but this is a new bag which makes it so easy to sling across your shoulder. Others too w/rollers, but above two simplest

Brompton is a quality brand of folding bike. Simply none more compact and robust. Ideal for city dwellers who need to carry a bike upstairs to store, take on and off public transportation, travel with internationally, etc. Their entry into the ebike space is not really on brand, so I was curious to see how they would do so. Thanks for another great video.

Selling my $1,250 LECTRIC xp 3.0 … rarely used now that I have the brompton 4 speed e-bike! Can just grab and go so easily! XP was my 1st e-bike (purchased w/your affiliate link!) Learned a ton and so useful but Brompton was the dream bike. W/Travoy trailer becomes great cargo bike!

C line 6 speed owner here. The City bag causes the battery to disengage often so now it sits in my closet. Rim brakes have been sufficient. I would like greater range as I only got 13 miles in 20 F degree weather while going up a rather long, steep hill.

Why do you think? Have you had brompton take a look? The bike mechanic at the Georgetown Washington DC Brompton store has that exact bag and loves it. It was very well used when he showed it to me a couple weeks ago. I bought the basket battery bag … works great can toss my backpack in … went cheaper but was planning on eventually getting your bag.

Have ridden a lot in Europe. We take trains for our transportation while in Europe. You see a lot of people with Brompton’s riding the train. In Europe the top speed is 25 KM per hour for Ebikes and they cannot have a throttle. I guess they could have a version for US customers that was not limited to the 25 kmh. I would think if they did that it would be limited to 32 kmh (which is just under 20 Mph}. Also in Europe you can take a regular bike on a train, but you pay extra for a regular bike. With a Brompton you do not pay extra, I guess they consider more like luggage. On a trip we did recently we needed to take our bikes on a train because of bad weather conditions. We paid for an extra ticket for each bike, something like 8 euros for the bike as I recall. For us it was great because it was raining with 35 Mph winds head on. We would have ridden in the rain, but the winds made it really tough. On another trip it was raining hard and I saw a boat we could ride, so we hopped on the boat until the rain subsided, then hopped off at the next port and continued our ride. In Europe you can do things like this because they have great transportation options. We really enjoy riding in Europe, tons of great bike trails. The Netherlands has 35,000 KM of bike trail and it is a relatively small country. We tend to do Barge and Bike rides. One thing I have found riding in Europe is that being flexible makes it enjoyable. So often the things I remember are the things that are not planned. Either you just run into something or someone tells you about it. Locals are a wonderful source. Have a drink at a crowded pub and talk with the locals. Also talk with the hotel staff.

I've ridden many folding bikes in the past but at 6 ft 3 in riding the Brompton with 16-in wheels just isn't for me. Plus on this particular bike there's a lot of weight on the front end with the battery and the motor which likely makes the handling a bit twitchy. Most Bromptons in the folding position you can wheel along the ground with you as you're walking. You don't necessarily need to carry it.

Should have highlighted the load limits 243# total and 22# on the front carrier block, and 22 pounds on the rear rack. Must take the bag white into account for example I have the electric basket bag 9# w/battey you have an additional 13 pounds you can load in it on the front carrier block. Total bike weight capacity is 243 pounds for you and all your cargo. Motivated me to lose 25 pounds so far so I could carry more gear ! Will be accelerating my weight loss so I can eventually use it for longer rides and overnight camping.

Hi Ryan,my name is Steve and this question has nothing to do with the video. Today is December 6th and this morning I watched a new video that you did on the V Volt self shifting mid step and now it is off of your page and isn't in my history. Are you going to re post that video at a later date?I like the way you guys do your videos. Keep up the good work and thank you for your time.

It’s a nice bike but it’s not lightweight. Especially for the cost but it has a cult following and people like them
@EbikeEscape2 күн бұрын
What weight do you consider lightweight for an ebike?
@falconreconeightКүн бұрын
@ I have a Gocycle g4I+ and it’s marketed as a lightweight e-bike. It weighs 16.5 kilos and it feels heavy. I had a Coboc Brooklyn fat and it was 13.1 kilos. I would say that bike felt light but was a full size bike so carrying it was hard in tight spaces. A folding bike at 13 kilos is light.

I have a friend in the US that really LOVEs his Brompton. It is not electric and he is not a Ebike kind of guy. He rides it a lot. He also rides a road bike. My guess is most people in Europe do not buy the Ebike version of the Brompton. They want it light and use it to commute to the train station, then hop on board and commute afterwards. Then at the end of the day they do the reverse. In Europe they often use an Ebike as a primary source of transportation. Many people do not drive, they don’t need to. They can live a wonderful life without driving.
