Nice and looks like fun. Couple of thoughts. Stainless steel spokes and brass nipples will last much longer than other metals when riding through snow. Hydraulic disc brakes will ensure you can stop when you need to when riding through snow, slush, and ice. Salt water will enter the space between the valve stem and rim. That salt water will corrode and split your rim from the inside within a few months. Use a rubber O ring over the threaded valve stem to seal that space and tighten the O ring against the rim for a good seal with the valve stem nut. Your rim will last many years longer if you seal that gap well.

@jamesallan7005 Sure, one of my favorite topics! Layers are key: 1. wicking base layer 2. fleece insulator 3. shell with zipper vents This combination can be used for upper or lower body and even gloves or hats. The point is you can always zip open/closed for less/more heat. Get a wind proof/water proof shell jacket and gloves, a fleece balaclava + a good set of glasses. That alone is 80% of the battle. Tuck everything in so there are no drafts and you're set to go! Have fun... -Peter

You will notice bumps a bit more, but really its a subtle difference. I ride a Brompton to work from harlem, and take the hudson bike path, which is scattered with tree-roots and potholes, and I never have any problems. Thanks for posting, happy to help with other questions you might have- Jack

Yep it is a brooks saddle, this is the M6L, although since this video was taken, peter has replaced the upright M bar with a custom flat bar and elongated the handlepost. Best- jack

The Brompton tends to reach out to a pretty wide demographic. Many who have enough space in their garage for a full sized bike still go with the Brompton just because they need to bring their bike in with them to the office, take it on the bus, or are planning on doing some traveling and want a way to take their bike with them- jack

Yes, to get a bike that's made this well, and folds up so compact you'll be looking at this price range. Have you checked out any of our bikes in a lower price bracket? The Tern link D8 folds up nicely, feels great to ride and is more in the $500-600 price range. Best- Jack

The smaller wheels won't impact your speed or comfort, but they do turn faster so have to be more attentive at high speeds. - jack

You're doing well to ride it in the snow...not exactly London conditions. It's important to mention that in any wet or slick conditions, riders need to take extreme care with turns - avoid leaning into turns on manhole covers or slick patches as the high center of gravity makes the Brompton tippy,

@JogBird Quick release hinges are a great design because they can pop open very easily and quickly, like those found on Dahons, but the problem is they need to be adjusted over time. With screw type hinges you can just screw them in until tight and you're done. -Peter

Hi Rahul, the Brompton is going to have a comparable folding time and you'll actually able to fold it up even smaller than the Bike Friday. @Hambo04 The firm suspension would be much better for you. As far as mirrors go, like Hambo04 mentions below, you can - and we have - mount mirrors to a Brompton with no problem. We use one called a "Mountain Mirrycle" which works great. Weight limit on the Bromtpon is 250lbs + some luggage so the frame would be OK. Just be careful to keep your tires pumped up to 80 psi. All folding bikes feel sort of jittery at first but once you get used to it they ride just fine. -Peter

Just tried riding the Brompton in the snow for the first time in NYC, actually does handle surprisingly well on the 16inch wheels, although I took it pretty slow. - jack

I think you're right Peter, I ride around London , I never wear an helmet. London roads can be dangerous. But life is about risk. I think you Americans not all but some are obsessed about making things safe. but its the fear of a legal team going to town on any guy involved in a road accident & God forbid he was not wearing an helmet. Oh yes Peter Brompton should thank you, after watching this review many times, I went out and purchased one on Monday. Now I can see what all the fuss is about.

Quick tip...... Use cold water to wash salt off your bike. Warm or hot water causes salt to react with the metal parts. :-)

@guyoverthre Both bikes fold fairly small, but a Brompton will fold smaller than any Dahon. Also, from my experience, a Brompton can fold much faster than any Dahon. So if small and fast are your criteria I'd say Brompton wins out. -Peter

Sounds good, you should know that we have decided not to sell the Gepdia bikes any longer as this company has consistently not upheld the level of quality that we expect in our products. @geek0p0lis Hmm, never had that problem. Sounds like you're in a whole different world of cold up there in Michigan and throwing salt at it probably wouldn't help ;). Maybe try flipping the rear wheel under every now and then at a stop light to keep the ice from building up too much? Let me know if you find a solution! -Peter

Thats a nice color huh?... I had order one with a 6 speed and same colour but it takes about 6 weeks just for it to be sent to these guys. The colour is Raw Lacquer and its the most expensive of all the colours. I notice there is no reply to you so I figure I help a bit and if this is the bike Peter said he owned on a previous video, than it must be a 6 speed as well. That looks like a Brooks saddle as well.

The Tern Verge Duo should be safe, but in general you should take it real slow riding in winter weather, Peter is somewhat of a dare devil in this video, and it can be tricky riding any bike in snowy weather. Best- jack

@guyoverthre - Dahon folds in under 10 seconds! Bromptons are cool but much more expensive and they DO wear out. I have to replace my main frame because of the need to keep tightening the seat post. Unbeknown to me, the frame has a plastic bush which was wearing out from all the folding and unfolding. Once worn down, my seat post started damaging the steal frame. check out my old Dahon by key word search Bicycle Review - BD-1 / HOOLIGAN / DAHON

So wanted to love this bike and get one, but at 17 stones riding one borrowed from a friend found it to be too skittish, and all that bouncing up and down made it very unstable for me. Would the stiff suspension make enough difference? also with twisting problems does brompton do mirror attachments that can be add to handlebars. Great vid btw.

This bike was really easy to assemble kzbin.infoUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA and required very few adjustments out of the box. The wheels did not require any truing/adjustments. The frame had some small scratches, but nothing major.I did replace the seat though - the seat it came with was very uncomfortable. The tires need to be re-inflated every 4-5 days, but this appears to be quite common for the narrow 700x25 tires.Overall, in my opinion, this bike looks and rides like a much more expensive bike.
