When we toured in France last year, we often found drinking water taps in church yards & cemetries!

@@jasondouglas7330 water-map app. ios for sure. android too i think. most countries, including cities it has worked a treat. if anything there are more drinking water taps than listed. which train systems/countries have you visited which require even folding bikes be "bagged" to board. japan for sure, even to enter stations I think. several trains in france i guess too based on your video, mostly to avoid paying an extra bike fee. others?

I've heard so many people say they can't find water easily in France and they never think of trying the cemetery. You may have to look around the walls but there will be a tap somewhere. The good thing is it will be mains water and safe to drink. I always let it run for a minute before filling up my bottles.

My Brompton bag has a zip at the top which I undo to allow the seat to protrude then it covers the bike and is easier to carry by the seat 😊

i like the channel Brompton traveller the way he bags all his stuff up on the rear rack using a 45 litre back pack. i use a roll top water tight back pack made by over-board as its so water tight it will float on water and everything inside remains dry. his method is quick, effective and you don't need a ton of extra bags or side panniers. i know a number of brompton owners who are using his method. that wooden stick he users works a treat as a way to fasten to the saddle. two bags he said is all he needs for months of travel. one bag on the front and one on the rear rack along with his tent. to give you an idea here is the video. i feel this is a perfect and cheap but effective setup for Brompton distance travels. kzbin.info/www/bejne/h3rSnXmHh8mhobM and also kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJe0lmecZc-VkNU

so in france you are not allowed with bikes on trains unless they fold and have to be placed inside bags. is that correct? if so that sucks i remember when trains use to have a guards van. a dedicated carriage on trains where the guard was located and a place where you could stow with ease your bike until you reached your destination. today its all about squeezing people in having little room for bikes. they say they want people to move away from the car to cycle and ride on train more but sometimes its not that easy to go on trains with bikes.

No bikes on tgv which is the fast train . The slow trains take bikes no prob but would have taken 12hours for that journey
