My concerns are if the rear derailleur is damaged, it doesn't look like replacing it would be easy, and it looks really close to the ground in operation.

Yes, it could be a problem, and now I look at the video, it is really close to the ground indeed >.

Isn’t that a P line derailleur? If it is, there are a bunch of clones out there, and these aren’t difficult to change.

Brompton does need to drag itself into the 21st century and introduce some of these changes on its models, disc brakes would be a huge step forward.

This looks so much better than the brompton

Disc brakes are important and missing on Brompton for the moment. Are there spare parts available for this bike? And what about the quality of the build? Are there technical specs available? It seems that all this info is missing.

That derailleur hangs low. I would be worried about it hitting things.

I have a 16" giant folding bike with a 7 speed derailleur (standard shimano tourney), and although it is close to the ground, its never hit anything. Which makes sense, the wheel and tire go over any bumps, so why would the derailleur hit the road. Nonetheless i put one of those derailleur guard things on it, and it's been fine.

For $2000, perhaps Brompton will take notice??

the chain and derailleur is so near to the ground. i think i will grind them if i corner with this bike 😂

Great review! Have you tried and reviewed any of the 20" wheels that tri-fold like the Brompton? I know you can get Brompton modification kits in the EU, or in Asia they sell Brompton like tri-fold bikes. I'm particularly interested in a Brompton style bike that can accept wider tires or at least bigger tires to help smooth out the ride but still take advantage of the fold.

I'm very much interested in the same. somewhat lower pressure and fatter tires would be pretty amazing

All those improvements are not worth it and they are designed for people who either know nothing about bikes or ride really little. Rear derailleur sits too close to ground and would get knocked out at the first curb. Disk brakes are ok on fast bikes but again in cities where one folds and unfolds the bike often they may get damaged quickly.

Chinese bikes = shit quality control. You can only get a good one if you're a youtube reviewer or are extremely lucky.

Would never in a million years risk my life riding a shitty knock off like this or any of the other 'clones' on the market.

Oh man. what would they ever do without you being a customer? They're soooo sad to see you not buy their stuff. Poor you.

Paying tribute = greedy patent infringement and if some countries won’t recognise and enforce them we should cease trade with em

Patent expired long ago. Brompton just happened to have lawyers clever enough to bypass that with copyright law protection which is total nonsense as a bike that didnt look like the brompton at all like this one lost the court case so good luck ever seeing a small trifold design in Europe in this lifetime. This is one thing im glad chinese manufacturers are copying as this trifold system SHOULD be used all over the world by any bike manufacturer. Especially in the EU where taking bikes on public transport is so common. Well done EU for putting a compnay who has already profitted plenty before society's needa

Didn't the patent expire several years ago?
@FOXMAN096 ай бұрын
@NoZenith yes. And people like simon dont seem to understand that brompton using a copyright to protect their EXPIRED patent is like if boeing had a copyright for planes or nike had a copyright for shoes. Or apple had a copyright for smartphones. We'd just have a world of monopolies and have to put up with a lazy lack of engineering and price gouging for the rest of our lives

@FOXMAN09 I did buy a Brompton though, because I'm in the United States and for the cost difference of trying to get any kind of a clone, Didn't get me the warranty or service availability Brompton has. Basically, no after service on any of the bikes like the mint or Camp Royale And the price difference was less than $300 no matter where I looked because of shipping. I don't know how much wear and tear my bike is going to get but eventually it's probably gonna need a hinge pin replacement and I want to make sure that was a possibility even if I have to drive a ways to find a service shop because I am certainly not going to accumulate all the necessary tools to be doing any of that deep stuff myself.
@FOXMAN096 ай бұрын
@NoZenith ya when the price difference ia that low, brompton is the way. I was dealing with the same issue until I found a business in asia who said they could send it for an affordable price/including taxes via sea and the cost comes out to 950 euros less (to where i live in the EU) than the brompton so now im willing to take the risk of headaches for fixing it
