We haven't made so many videos recently - due to a new arrival
Co-incidentally we are often asked which bike trailer we would recommend for taking a child on the back of a Brompton folding bike
Well - we wanted to do exactly that, so thought we would give it a go - and here are the results
Spoiler alert: we will be using it a lot in the future
It's the Thule Chariot Cross trailer
We use it as a pushchair for every day use
It has a conversion kit (extra) to allow it to be used for running on rough terrain
It comes as standard with a bike attachment - which is what we used in the video
It also has the option of adding skis for cross country skiing

thank you guys for this video. After seeing it, I bought a Thule Chariot (Lite1) myself. However, due to safety reasons I want to point out a small gadget I've been told at the local bike dealer would be necessary. Looking more closely now at your video I can see that the nut holding the coupling on the rear axis does not go over the axis completely. To compensate I've been told to use the Thule SRAM internal hub adaptor 14-X. We have quite an intense cataloque of paragraphs when it comes to anything moving in streets, ways etc. here in Germany. The dealer also had to point out that due to the small diameter of Brompton wheels stability is not the same like on a big bicycle. at least its legal...now we shall all enjoy our rides with offspring and Brompton.

Hello. Thank you for your great videos and thank you too Rafael for the good comment. I have the same issue with a Qeridoo trailer. Could you please confirm if the thread of the Brompton rear axle is M10x1? There are many different adapters for different threaded axles. Thank you in advance.

Looking for this too. Sturmey archer thread seems to be 13/32”
@metalicozgz
@metalicozgz Жыл бұрын
@@michaelboesl1836 unfortunately I think you are right. Unfortunately because the 13/32-26 is not a common standard. It is almost the same as M10x1, I guess that is what the other user got from the local dealer. But I'm not sure if it is a good idea to mix 2 different threads even if they are similar.
@michaelboesl1836
@michaelboesl1836 Жыл бұрын
@@metalicozgz I found a compatible part. It’s Qeridoo Polygonadapter 10,5x1 - not sure if it’s available worldwide. But the thread ist correct. Having the vrompton here now I definitely recommend this, else there is a high risk of failure in the connection
@Attackflaska

These are more common than our Volvos nowadays. Been using my cab 2 version for several years with my brommie. When not bicycling the jogging wheel does wonders for hikes in the woods. As the Brompton has an internal gear hub i would strongly recommend the internal hub hitch adapter as not to put unnecessary strain on the bike. Cheers!

4:28 There is a Easy Fix for the Mud and Dirt Problem, if your a Trailer User. Just mount a (Big) Front Mudflap at the Rear instead of the small Rubber Lip. All you need is a Second hole below the Hole for the Rubber Lip pin and you can Mount the Front Flap. Nice ... Use [ Freitag ] colored Mudflaps and make your Bike even more unique by this, or color match the flaps to the trailer, bike etc... There is a lot you can do with it.

Thx for the great video (as always!). Is it the stock connector provided by Thule? What brommie-model are you using in the video? I read online that one would have to get the "SRAM Hub Adaptor" to get it working on the s/a axle of a brommie.

Hey @brilliantbikes, I just tried to get a Thule trailer coupling fitted to my 6 Speed Brompton in Germany. They could not do it because of the threads of the Sturmey Archer would not fit any adapter (and did not have enough thread to mount the coupler directly). What sort of adapter do you use - and where can I order it?
