The only thing I'd question was calling the two timeouts between 3 and 4 minutes left in OT. There was nothing to be gained by calling those, other than perhaps allowing the defense to rest/reset. Had they not been called, it would have been under 2 minutes left after the missed FG by Cincy and might have made running the clock out for the tie for manageable. Three runs there and the worst case scenario would have been Cincy getting the ball back with about 40 seconds left and no timeouts left.

Regardless if Hes a good qb good defenses find ways to handle good quarterbacks who have good receivers. So far that defense got obliterated by Lamar, got obliterated by Herbert, got obliterated by burrow and if we make the playoffs they would get obliterated by Allen. The secondary has been horrible as of late against good quarterbacks, they get exposed. They look great going against the Kirk cousins of the world or the Anthony Richardsons, but when it’s time to face a superstar QB they fold everytime, this isn’t the Denver defense I remember man. And like u said we seen how Herbo and LJ did our defense specifically the secondary so relying on our gimmicky “top 5 defense” that relies solely on getting to the quarterback in 2 seconds or else we get bombed for 20 yard gains might not be a great idea against the even better qb in Burrow. We had 2 chances in OT and fucking smoked it going 3 and out both times. The defense gave us a chance and we did absolutely nothing with it. Defense was abysmal for almost the entire second half, they couldn’t get any stops on burrow and let him constantly convert endless 3rd and longs. There was a drive where burrow was in 3rd and 10, 3rd and 8 and 3rd and 13 situation and wound up converting all 3 of them and ending in a TD, the defenses inability to get off the field on 3rd and long is a serious problem. Like if u stop him on just 1 of those 3rd and longs it’s a FG or punt. Did Bo nix need to do more in OT? Absolutely, but had the defense played better in the 2nd half we win in regulation and not even have to worry about OT. Can’t rely on a rookie QB to always bail them out, rookie QBs are flawed and are prone to make mistakes it’s the nature of the game. It’s the defense job to make life easier for them, get turnovers, set up short forks, don’t let burrow have a drive where he converts 3 3rd and longs LOL. Riley moss and Mcmillian got torched on almost every play. I first noticed a drop off in our defense the moment I saw Jameis F’ing Winston Hang 32 points on us and had like 500 passing yards

@The Browns game for sure but even before that in the Ravens game. People kinda overlooked that for some reason but that’s when I started having my doubts. I get it’s Lamar but that’s the echelon of QB you’re going to have to beat at the end of the day if you want to be great and actually compete for something. The truth is that we are just a mid team with flashes of greatness, we haven’t lost to any teams below .500 but we’ve only beaten 2 teams above it. Honestly given the circumstances coming into this season I’m proud of what we’ve managed thus far. We have some hope for the future for the first time in a long time in Denver.

this game reminded me of some Seahawks games, Russ first three seasons - see the potential, just need better supporting cast on offense. I know this (specific) game can be critiqued from various angles, but with the rookie QB, already Way overachieved for the season, and fighting hard against playoff caliber teams down the stretch is pretty optimistic. Easy to be greedy as a sports fan, but this is way better Bronco football than previous 8 seasons

You definitely go for two in that situation. Denver's defense played well but had been on the field too long. The time of possession was lopsided in favor of the Bengals because of their number one pass offense. Denver's Defense was exhausted. This favored the Bengals in OT. Bo Nix and M Mims made two incredible TD plays that not only kept Denver in the game but gave the Broncos a chance to win. In that situation you go for two and try to win in regulation. In two years, Coach Payton has failed to establish the run game. Does he have the hunger to returned to the SB?

You can attempt a 2 point conversion when you have a seasoned QB, a GOOD 1,000 yd running back (which Broncos haven't had since 2019), a GOOD 1,000 yd receiver (which the Broncos haven't had since 2019) and a top tight end group (the Broncos tight end group isn't the worst - they are the second worst at #31). GOOD CHOICE ON THE TIE COACH PEYTON. Good choice. Broncos need to recruit a running back, receiver, and tight ends that will make the team more competitive.

Terrible play calling in OT. Sean is good. But sometimes he tries to get too cute. Tryin to be too clever. Sean needs to accept that vanilla is OK sometimes. Burrow ripped us on 5 yard out routes and quick slants all game. No idea why we don’t run more of that stuff … and keep running up the gut. No more of these lame screens every other drive. Upside isn’t worth the risk of negative yardage to call it that frequently.

@BethReed62 Yes, those were very good stands on defense. Riley for sure struggled with Tee Higgins but with the exception of PS2, they rest of the secondary did also. He scored on McMillan and caught a few crucial first downs on others. Higgins is a 1a receiver for the Bengals, but easily a #1 for other teams in the league. Riley will get his legs back under him and he'll be fine. That was a tough tasks to ask of him after he's missed a month of football. When you play the Bengals, you are not only battling the receiver.... Joe Burrow will place that ball in places even great coverage can stop sometimes. Lol
