Very sad as this song is one of a generation. Also a gay generation. A sad song about what many of us lived and endured. That's not light and should not be taken lightly. I never thought I could enjoy the modern day adoption of one of my sanctuaries. Often it was outrage. But this is otherworldly, it's epic. The original, my first vinyl, listened to hundreds of thousands of times, never wore out, but the feeling got lost over the years. This great piece brings everything back to me. Walking down the hallways of my high school with my red Sony DDII Walkman; the pain I felt walking across the boarding school parking lot with the song blaring out a window in 1984, just after my family left; the longing I felt back then when it came unexpectedly on the radio...
