Great Video Dennis, i should mention another way to date bronson reels is to look at the bottom of the reel foot for a two digit date code. Thats how i was able to date my Brooklure No. 15 reel.

Is there a key for the date codes like there is with the Shakespeare reels? Do you know where I could find one?

I just recently found this reel in my grandfather‘s tacklebox. I would love a video on how to properly use it.

Some people tell me the Bronson Reel in that Era was a better Reel than say a South Bend or Shakespeare I don’t know about that but I have a small Collection of these Reels including the one in tonight’s Video . Tks Dennis for another enjoyable video.

I found the Bronson reel to be very similar to the Shakespeare reels of the day, so I am not sure which is better. The edge may go to Bronson based on the plating and cosmetics

Classic baitcaster ! Do you think that oil had a reaction with the plastic handles that made them swell and stick? Great job on the reel dennis.

I don't think it played a part. The material probably dried and shrunk. Maybe stored in a hot place like a shed, could have accelerated the issue
