Here in Brazil, Shirley is one of the most unknowns books of the Brontë sisters. The most famous are Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights, but, I love so much all the sisters, I want read all they books. You make me feel realy excited for this reading of Shirley, I already buy it!

I just finished Shirley 15 minutes ago, and immediately wanted to watch your video :) Such a great review, and I agree on every single thing, it was brilliant!

Great review! I have so far only read Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte but do want to read all of her novels. You definitely made more intrigued to pick this one up!

The best I like in this book is that it describes so well and such in harmony nature and soul. I love lengthy descriptions, anyway, but still, I somehow thought I would be bored of this book, but. It has exceeded my expectations A LOT! :-)

Oh, yay, that's awesome! Yes, the nature descriptions are so unique compared to Charlotte Bronte's other books :D

I am just getting up. California is retiring for the night.....Anyway, I was happy to see you so enjoyed 'Shirley' too! I read 'S' years ago on a train going somewhere when my late partner lived in a different world. Your video always ( mostly;) make me smile. Good Morning, California!

Ah, this has soothed my Bronte obsessed soul, but I have not read Shirley yet. After such a fabulous review I am ready to hunt down a copy.

That settles it: After you and LucyTheReader's rec IMA read it for #Victober this year. I adored _Villette_ but when I reread it I'll get the annotated edition. There's more than a _lotta_ French in it and much went over my head (I know). I'm also going to read Juliet Barker's _The Brontë's_ this October. Great vid! 🍀🤗🇮🇪

Good luck on Barker's The Brontës! Let me know if it is worth the read :D There is a bit of French in Shirley, but NOTHING compared to the amount in Villette. I hope you really enjoy it :)

I really like Shirley, for the female friendship and also the longing between Caroline and Robert
@AmandaQuotidianBooks5 жыл бұрын
True! There IS quite a bit of romantic longing in many of our main characters - so good :D

What do do you mean in 07:15, please? I didn't understand well. I've just read this novel and it's been such a pleasure. Beautiful. And the image of the mermaid is very powerful.

Luna Literatura I was just commenting on how a plot twist, which I don’t want to spoil, surprised me so much I gasped out loud. I’m normally not affected by twists like that :)

Please may you tell me if it has any scenes of kisses or 18+ I am not allowed to read such things ?

I liked the book a lot, however I always thought that Caroline was the more central character than Shirley. Shirley was a good character too, but a thought that the title should have been Caroline.
@AmandaQuotidianBooks5 жыл бұрын
I agree! Or maybe titled after the place they all live since Robert Moore is a main character for a time, too.
