Just discovered this song from The Move. Thought I'd check out this version. I'm adding this song to my band's setlist.

i love the move and cheap trick so much. it appeals to me as a musician and on a purely visceral animal level.

I wish they would have done this song when I seen them back in the 70s. I love the Move. Cheap Trick has good taste in music.

Song came out when I was 12. One of my favorites. Heard it on Underground Garage the other day. Hadn't heard it in decades. This cover is excellent.

Thanks for posting otonoami and thanks to Mike Hayes & Ken Sharp for their "Story of Cheap Trick" biography and all the great songs listed in the book like this one. Cheers!

This was on a bonus disc that came with the now VERY rare Red Ant 'Cheap Trick' CD. CT (or for that matter nobody else) has never rocked harder - which is saying something!

This song and "Baby Talk" was released on Sub Pop's single of the month club in 2001.
@martinrangecroft99713 жыл бұрын
It was a Sub Pop single, but wasn't part of the Singles Club
@SearchandDestroyFire3 жыл бұрын
@@martinrangecroft9971 I got it as part of a Singles Club delivery, but I'm sure you're probably right.
@martinrangecroft99713 жыл бұрын
@@SearchandDestroyFire was just a regular single. A good one, though.

I know they added a few bars of this into their version of California Man (about 2:20 in), but I didn't know they did the entire song. Very cool and a nice rendition.

The 97 album would have been to long. Although there great songs and was on the Japanese version. Album was 20 years to late. A top 5 of theirs for sure. Funny how alot of top 70s acts are now mid tier and openers.

So, first California Man? Then this? Did Cheap Trick do any other Move covers?
@scottskink69816 жыл бұрын
They did cover at least one other Roy Wood song - Wizzard's "Rock and Roll Tonight". It's somewhere on YT.

This is good, but I prefer The Move's version with Jeff Lynne bashing the keys on his piano.
@gil.gosseyn47863 жыл бұрын
Not too bad. Just like their version of Terry Reid's "Speak Now (or Forever Hold Your Peace)", it's a reasonably good facsimile, but STILL a cover. Just like Terry Reid, there was only ONE Move. Why listen to an imitation, when you can hear the real thing?
@davidmacgregor5193 Жыл бұрын
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!

The Move's version is good but this is on another level.
