I think Atamov is my favourite fighter... Although he's smaller than his opponents he can do that awesome Uramawashi... And his Kizami is excellent too. I do not agree with refree's Hasoku Chui decision for the Uramawashi, but they know what they do. Anyway I have to say that it was perfect technically.

That uromawashi was supposed to be pointed but the other karateka decided to act like they do in Hollywood and down goes 3 points, its WKF... I bet if it was in other organization that would have been a point, the level of difficulty is so high that I guess everything counts to win, great national teams tho, love the sport and even more the art :)

I've been on the receiving end of one of those ura mawashis a few times. You tend to get knocked down or out by the techniques you didn't see coming. But I've never competed in a format where a hit like that is counted against you, even in organizations with a similar ruleset. That's one of the worst calls I've ever seen and it seems to be a rule within WKF. Don't play a contact sport if you're not willing to get hit. This isn't full contact and hits like that are rare so it's not even like you're going to take brain damage. If someone goes down like that, end the fight and everyone will be fine. I can understand safety concerns to a degree. But I'd argue that calls like that will gradually make the sport less safe. If getting knocked down is a point in your favor then over time, players will focus less and less on defense and conditioning and making injuries more likely.

Hahaha exactly the same thing happened with Aghayev and Dona except Aghayev is preffered athlete and was much better at acting so Dona was disqualified while here atamov was only given chukoku. I still think that kick should have been ippon (3 point). I've been hit with a kick like that and punched as hard as aghayev got punched by Dona and you don't get knocked down like that. At most you see stars and feel dizzy. If you get knocked enough to put you out you would stay down and not be able to get up for a few seconds or until you have to be shaken out of unconciousness. These guys instinctively exaggerate their reactions because it's something they learn from federation level competitions that try to abide strictly to safety rules so they know that they can get away with it. Why do you think there is a specific warning for faking a reaction (referee waves hand side to side of face) which is chukoku. It's because athletes constantly do this. Sometimes it's not even intentional just from bad habit.
