Judy, thank you so much for sharing you wisdom and experience with us! I'm getting ready to make 1 large and 4 small brooch bouquets for my daughter's wedding. I'll be watching your other videos as well! Thanks again!

This absolutely is THE BEST!!!!! My daughter's wedding is in 8 days; she thinks b/c my undergraduate degree is in horticulture that I must know something about making bouquets, boutonnieres, etc. I DON'T. I made the "mistake" of asking her if she had considered a brooch bouquet; she said that's what she really wanted but there was no way on this wedding's budget. That set me on a KZbin journey & I found your great and wonderful video. I found a few brooches at a local flea market; checked eBay & Amazon then went to FancyBrooches.com. I ordered over a weekend - 2 whole weeks before the wedding - and there was a glitch at the site. I called Saul on the next business day; he fixed it; then delivered ordered brooches 3 DAYS before his estimated arrival date. The drill is the bomb!!!!! I spent a couple of hours cutting wire to have 'em ready and was able to create 6 "stems" in less than an hour including the learning curve. eBay is full of brooches that have to come from China, and God only knows what sorts of issues could come from that. I've already had requests to make brooch bouquets for others. I'll still check local flea markets & thrift stores, but my primary source is going to be FancyBrooches.com for sure. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for this great video and all the tips that cut not only the learning curve but also the time required to produce a great product.

Hi Judy, I made my daughters brooch bouquet for her wedding. My first attempt. I did a lot of research before I started. I took a lot of tips/suggestions from many sites and put a few of my own touches/additions. Your drill tip was the best time saver by far. I have pictures of my finished bouquet if you would like to see it. My daughter is getting married in an Irish castle next month, so to make the bouquet a little more regal, I used a silver tussy messy for the base. Used a lot of family brooches and some store bought. So pleased and thanks for the tips!!!

You just saved me a million hours with that drill tip! I JUST started adding the wires and I was thinking "There MUST be a better way!" I am still trying to figure out what to use as my base, though, since I was vintage-looking cream and burgundy lace instead of silk flowers to go with my vintage brooches/earrings and steampunk theme.

This is an amazing video. Your tips have helped me out a lot. I do have a question for you though. On the bouquet that you did for your daughter that showed almost all brooches how did you maintain the round shape? Any tips you can share on that? I am using a hydragena as the base flower. Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

Michelle Samuels did you ever find out how to maintain the round shape?
@Meshelley679 жыл бұрын
Sort of. Interested in your method
@judycotroneramirez77569 жыл бұрын
+Michelle Samuels , So sorry that I haven't responded. I'm sure that by now you've already finished the bouquet, but just in case/for anyone else that might be interested. I simply bend the wire to fit into the round shape. If one is sticking farther out, just slip it down from the bottom. You'll see how easily they create and maintain the roundness!

An excellent video. The best one in my opinion on making a brooch bouquet. My daughter wants a teardrop shape for hers. I'm wondering if you have any advice in achieving that shape. Also how to finish off the underside when it's a teardrop shape. I might make a video myself but will give you credit and post a link to yours. I probably won't start until November. I'm still gathering brooches. I'm buying them from eBay, from China. So far excellent quality and reasonably fast shipping to Australia.

Hi Judy love your work! Attempting to make my own for my wedding December 1st. Was wondering what gauge wire you use? Any specific brand? I purchase a silver but since it's my first time I've been playing with finding the right spot to place my wire on the brooch and it seems as if the color is rubbing off on my fingers and I'm losing the shine where it should blend right in with the brooch.

@judycotroneramirez77568 жыл бұрын
+Lisa Monette Hey, Lisa! As far as the wire, the lower the gauge, the thicker the wire. I use 22 gauge, and it works great. Just don't make the wire stems too long. I use whatever Michael's has available for the hydrangea. I've never had a problem with them falling apart. Good luck and have fun!

I did my bouquet back in 2007 with my arm in cast. I set on my bed and but the drill between my feet. I would tighten the wire down a bit then put the ends in the drill. Tighten down the drill and hit the button. Slowly at first then faster to the end. Back then I had not seen bouquets made with brooches but they were made with individual beads. I made around 700 for my bouquet.
