Man I just wanted to share with you that I finally got a job at the university as a biology teacher , my daughter is gonna be born at the end of next month and that matches my PhD entry exams +- a few days if everything goes to plan. My wingman xb1 still works great on my series x. I think there was a hardware revision on the xb1 wingman, and the later version like xb2 wingman were banned by microsoft

Yeah, the ban never hit me (I think you get a warning) - my OG wingman XB still works however it doesn't work with everything for some reason. I have a Mayflash Magic adapter for the controllers that don't work. Great product. i wanna say the Ban was targeting the 2nd generation, Brook said that they would fix it but never did and never said why.

I will need to try the mayflash sometime. But yeah, I now have three perfectly good Wingman XB's that I can use on my Series X and S but only two for my 360 😅

@@ArchadesGames The Mayflash has a couple of quirks that I don't get - one of my controllers (a Hori game cube-style controller that is supposed to be seen as a switch controller) is recognized as a PS4 controller and doesn't work well with the Mayflash - the Brook works just fine for some reason. I do wish Mayflash's adapter also was in a black color to match my series X since it clashes with its white color but that's being too nitpicky. I also forgot you can change controller inputs in the Xbox system menus. My question is how do you handle controllers with odd layouts - like what do you set for the PS to make it native or for a N64 style controller?

The whole thing with the xb2 put a sour taste in my mouth towards Xbox and the wingman adapters. I just gave my console to my oldest son and instead upgraded my PC (originally I got the series s during the GPU shortage) now I don't have to worry about needing to have a specific brand of controller.

The firmware situation is very confusing and preventing me from buying this. I own a XB1 and XB2 but mostly used the latter, which stopped working one day. At the time I found the latest Brook firmware didn't work but was pointed towards a legacy version of the firmware which ensured the XB2 worked again. I'm now reluctant to upgrade the firmware on my XB2 to the latest firmware in case compatibility breaks again.

Out of curiosity can anyone tell me if this adapter works for OG Xbox controllers? I dont have an OG Xbox but I like the feel of those chonkers, I recently got a really neat one thats like for shooters. I can get it to work on windows with a wrapper program but i'd like to be able to easily use it on consoles like the switch. I know this is meant to output to the xbox one, but I presume that makes it more likely to be compatible with OG Xbox. The main thing I have for controller adapting is the Magic NS and it does not respond to the OG xbox controller whatsoever. The XB2 says something about "retro controllers" but you know, Brook's translation team isnt the best, so I dont know if that's explicit confirmation. 4:10 maybe it was talking about that? I didnt know you could plug in USB controllers to the OG Xbox but that does make sense. But can it go the other way around?

i have brook xb1 but wii u pro controllers never worked for me which i really wanted to use and i think it has stopped working after microsoft blocked it, might update its firmware and give a try.

I had the XB2 and it kept disconnecting on my modded OG XBOX. Firmware update didn’t help either.

@alexsantacruz9229 the problem with the xb2 was it covered from the original Xbox to the current gen. The xb3 is only for XSX and XSS. So it's patches I'm sure will continue to working at most you'll have to wait for them to update the xb3

Could you use an older 8bitdo SNES Style Bluetooth controller (the one that looks like the gameboy color colors-yellow) with the Wingman and have it mapped for use in retroarch, even though it doesn't have analog sticks?

@@ArchadesGames so I tested this with an sn30 yellow controller...start + y mode pairs the controller, and it works in the menus, however in game, no directional pad inputs function, while the buttons do. Back to the sn30 pro (g classic)

Hi ! I dont really understand something : what is the « turbo » mode ? Does it make the latency lower/gameplay faster ? Also, Is it better to use the normal mode or tournament mode to be the fastest as possible and get lower latency (as it’s needed on FPS game like fortnite, overwatch …) ? Ty !

Turbo mode is automatic button presses while holding a button. Latency will be the same regardless

Hey there, great video! I'm using the XB3 on my XBox Series X with a Dualsense Controller from the PS5. Now everytime I try to shutdown the xbox, it just restarts. This didn't happen before, so it must be the new setup. Any advice on that?

I have both XB1 and XB2...i do not want to spend another $55 to get the XB3, if i do not have to. Also, does XB1 and XB2 also work on PC??? i was trying to play Battlefield 2042 with my DualShock 4 using DS4Windows Program....but Battlefield detected a "Virtual Controller." which the Anti Cheat would not let me use. Call of Duty lets me use my DualShock4 just fine with DS4Windows..... On Battlefield, i have to use my Xbox Controller which sucks......Will Battlefield detect the XB3 as just an ordinary Xbox controller since it is not a software program??? Thanks in advanced dude.

I said Xbox Series S because I meant Xbox Series S. And yes the XB1/2 should behave the same way with PC so you just plug the DualShock 4 into the adapter and it will work as a standard Xbox controller. After plugging it in once it will also work wirelessly.

Unfortunately Sony locked out anything but DualSense controllers on PS5 games except for fighting and racing so it would probably only really work for PS4 games with something like the Brook Wingman XE.

But is there a risk to be banned when using a PS5 controller with the help of this adapter when playing games such as Warzone etc? 2. And also I've read that the previous adapter used to have the "Unauthorized Controller" issue. Is it fixed with this one?
